Howdy all.

I don't know how okay this is, since I'm using this website to essentially promote my blog, but I like Kobold Quarterly and this is relevant.

Anyway, me and my partner have a little thing going on at blogspot called Dungeons and Drawings. We each pick a monster (according to a theme) out of the various books that Wizards has put out and we draw it.

This week's theme was flying creatures. I picked the Howler Wasp, from the 4th Monster Manual from D&D 3.5.

The other image this week was the Yrthak, a weird blind pterodactyl with sonic powers.

Hope you guys like it.

Very cool! These are really different styles and takes on monsters I'm used to seeing rendered in a particular way. It's fun to see them in a different light like this.

Any hey, this is what "Off Topic" is FOR!

I love these!

It's refreshing to see familiar things represented in new styles. Keep 'em up!

Okay, the image of the Yrthak was taken down because the artist wasn't too happy with it, but now its up again.

I like the Kobolds. If ever OD does a little kids book, comic, or comic book style adventure we'd definately need to look these two up.

Thanks for all your nice comments on our stuff. Good to know that I'm not abusing the site in any way.

We're kinda late this week with our posts. Normally we try to do our updates on Sunday/Monday, but it's been a busy week.

This time we've done the last PCs we played in a campaign, which was in the Willow Vale setting. It'd been a long time since we'd managed to play D&D, since most of the people we know aren't interested in this kind of gaming. I played a goblin ranger, Lucky, an archer that rides his animal companion, Bones the Wolf.

Joe's character is a mountain-man barbarian, Olaf Ullathorne. One of his gimmick is that he wields a sugiliin, an extremely clumbersome staff with antlers.

I love it when a new great site slips onto my radar. Excellent!

The picture of Olaf is is great, and as a confirmed barbarian myself, I can happily declare that "cumbersome" is just Thor's way of telling soft civilised people that they need to grow stronger.

Cool

I think the spellweaver is my favorite so far however. There's a wonderful Vancian/Moorcockian vibe there.

New images this week: aberrations. I did an Otyugh, because somebody at the Giant In The Playground forums off-handedly seggested that they'd like to see it drawn. Joe did a Naga, keeping in with the theme.

Also, we're gonna be taking requests, so post away to see if your monster gets picked for the next post, or maybe the post after that. All 3.5 books are fair game, so go nuts.

Well hey.

These creatures have been done on requests given to us by people over at the Giant In The Playground forums. I filled in the Century Worm request, and Joe did a festive Coatl.

We're gonna keep doing requests for a while I think, so feel free to drop some suggestions and we'll draw our favourites out of the bunch.

Love the century worm, and well sure, I have requests!

Could we see a kobold, an ogre, and a valkyrie? Or maybe a sphinx?

Well, we already did Kobolds a couple of months ago, but we're definitely up for the other creatures. Joe's already pretty psyched about the sphinx.

I DO BELIEVE WE ARE LATE THIS WEEK

TERRIBLY SORRY ABOUT THAT

ANYWAY

I did the Violet Fungus, one of the classics, as requested by somebody on the Wizards of the Coast forums. This version of the mushroom is based on one of nature's more nightmarish (or delicious) creations, the bleeding tooth fungus (sometimes known as 'strawberries and cream').

The other images is a Defacer, one of the weirder looking undeads. It's done in a really nice pixelarty style that Joe's been experimenting with recently.

Thanks for sharing this one; we are fans of the crazy fungus (witness "Ecology of the Phantom Fungus" in KQ#6 by a certain Scott Gable).

Also, you got a shout out in the latest Courier: I hope that sends some folks your way....

I'm still loving these!

If you are still taking requests, I'd like to request a choker, harpy, or, you know, a flumph.

Very Happy
