I'm in, and only run 4E. I'd help people convert the information to 4E, for sure.
My theory is that 4E DMs have plenty of material, even open design material, at this point, but I could be wrong. I also think WotC is sucking all the life out of the non-gaming parts of 4E with their cancelling many products and not releasing much. There just isn't enthusiasm for the system right now. (I have no idea if this is true, of course).
I'm only in because I love settings. I don't need another one, but this is an entertaining setting that I feel I can use. |
Great to have someone else aboard who's up for a bit of 4e conversion!
I think you might be right - also, someone pointed out to me there are 3 4e settings and only one each for Pathfinder and Dragon Age.
I'm in for the same reasons as you. Hoping to steal some of this stuff for my campaign.

I was tempted, but did not want to commit until it was known 4E would be supported. If I join at a basic level, would I be able to participate in the conversion material, or do you need a senior level membership?
On a side note, changing the DDI subscription to web based was a big blow to 4E. It was the only way you could afford to play 4E and have interests in other games. If you have to choose, most players like a more detailed system, unless you have been around the block a few times, and can appreciate 4E for what it is. |

All patrons have access to the mechanical elements/conversion discussions. Senior level not required! _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Okay, as of 3:29 pm EST I'm in!
And if there is a place to vote for the rules, I'm voting for Pathfinder. However, I would be very pleased to see a 4e and DA version as well: A diverse fan base can only help future projects.

Let's hope I'm worrying about nothing, Lost City and Courts of the Shadow Fey sell really well, and we get to see a high paragon/low epic 4e patron project soon.

Well, this is getting off-topic pretty fast, but yes, there's a call for senior patrons of 4E Lost City to pitch the next Open Design project.
So.... We'll see what people put forward for the next 4E project sometime soon! _________________ Wolfgang Baur

I feel sheepish posting this after Wolfgang said we're off topic.. But ironically I just received a beta invite to the 4E VTT. Like 10 minutes ago.
Since that's how I play, maybe I'm not done with 4E. Maybe I could find a group in this community who would want to play it. _________________ Jim Groves

Sorry Watcher, I actually enjoyed the tangent!
I just think it deserves its own thread about "What's Next for 4E and Open Design?" or the like, where other readers might discover it. The 4E rules bits of Midgard might come up, but there's other stuff to talk about there as well.
And, er, so we can get back on topic about the campaign setting! Generally speaking, the patrons are choosing the first design topic today, I should be able to announce it on Tuesday.
Since I'm on point to lead that topic, I'm extremely curious to see how the vote shakes out. Much like with players, I suspect the topic I'm all prepped for will not be chosen! _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Hello everyone! Excited to be here. I'm in for Pathfinder at the Senior level. My first Patronage. Love the concept that's brewing here. |

While I'm excited to do some work for Pathfinder, my regular players don't want to switch systems (I asked pretty directly).
I'll be converting stuff to 4e, no matter what. It would be nice to see something official. |

The official elements for 4E will depend very much on patron organization and drive. I know RichGreen and others have expressed an interest in making it happen.
I'm happy to provide the space and deadlines for those discussions, but (given I'm already committed to two rules sets) won't be able to add much actual design or review until the 4E D&D mechanics are either pulled together or not.
Brian, your unofficial conversions could well get an official review and feedback. Let's discuss off the boards. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

I would very much love to help in any 4e conversion projects. Either way, I feel the Midgard Campaign book is going to be a treasure trove for those looking for the next immerse setting. _________________ Matt James
