Hi,
At Wolfgang's suggestion on the Midgard thread, I am starting this new thread to discuss what 4e players & DMs would like to see next from Open Design.
Speaking personally, I've run Wrath of the River King and am currently 2/3 way through running Halls of the Mountain King in the Parsantium campaign, with Courts of the Shadow Fey and The Lost City both likely to make an appearance in the paragon tier. So I'd like to see a high paragon/low epic adventure next from Open Design.
I'm also keen that future OD 4e adventures are set in Midgard, and am happy to work with others on converting Pathfinder and/or Dragon Age crunch elements into 4e D&D
What about you guys?

Having done a substantial portion of the conversion for Halls of the Mountain King (and it sounds like you're in a position to tell me what you thought of that conversion) I'd be interested in helping out.

Great news! And I think you did a jolly good job on Halls - I've made a few tweaks to treasure but pretty much used the monsters etc as written.

I certainly think a 4E player's guide to Midgard would be good once the campaign setting is closer to completion.
As for adventures, I would be interested in either end of the spectrum. 4E lacks good 1st level modules, so I wouldn't mind a starting adventure. Or an anthology of low heroic tier adventures.
I would also like to see what high epic looks like.
As for themes, it would be cool to do something set in another region of Midgard. Western Wastes, 7 Cities, or Dragon Empire all seem very interesting to me.

Do you think so? There have been quite a few in Dungeon plus we have The Slaying Stone, Scepter Tower of Spellard and the excellent Reavers of Harkenwold in the DMs Kit. I didn't think Keep on the Shadowfell was too bad either.
There isn't much beyond the heroic tier at all though.

My interest lies in an epic level 4E adventure, starting at 21st level to 25th. I have played a couple generations of characters through heroic and paragon levels, ending with the lost city. The characters have played through the halls of the mountain king prior to playing the against the giants series.
Goodman games also has a series of lower level adventures.
Eventually we may go back to the first level, once the essentials line is fully released. |

Ok, I haven't really checked out Wizard's offerings in a while. They just aren't a source I trust for good adventures. If people feel they have enough low level stuff, I'm also interested in epic.
Another thought, although I'm not as certain about the legalities: I'd love to see an Open Design project that explored the Gamma World rules.

I'd also like to see a 4e edition supplement to compliment the Midgard Campaign Setting.
I like the idea of an epic level Midgard Adventure. Epic Levels, I feel, can often be overwhelming for 4e DMs. The power levels can are almost abstract in scope and there are many different directions to go in. |

I'd be behind any epic project, as to my mind that's where the challenge lies. Also, I'd like to see the OD fey trilogy (Wrath and Courts) wrap up with an epic finale!
Gamma World would also be pretty cool. I think there's some space to move it in a more dark future (and less wacky/gonzo) direction, but maybe that's just a reflection of how I used to play the original version.

A Gamma World "dark(er) setting" adventure would rock!
I agree that low level 4e play could use a few good adventure, particularly a straight-up, campaign in a box. Just buy, get some players, and go!
WOTC has started to put out some better adventures, the DM kit adventure being an excellent example, but there is still room for more.
That 4e guide to Midguard would be welcome.

I haven't run epic level games yet, but it is a concern of mine. An epic level module would be great. I'll be getting there soon and I have no ideas at all as to how to proceed.
I'm a member of D&D insider and their modules are okay, but they don't have the depth of the stuff that's done here. Nor do they ever really threaten the PCs with stuff that's difficult to overcome. Though maybe with MM3 they've fixed that. There is a ton of stuff already in Dungeon Magazine (can it really be called a magazine anymore?) for heroic up to mid paragon. There is a dearth of epic level stuff. |
