@Beasterbrook... (and everybody else at this point.)

Let me just try to explain this clearly...

I am asking politely. I not stealing from anybody and am not looking to steal from anybody. I am not justifying theft with my words. So please don't make it sound like that. I find it rather insulting.

If I misinterpreted your words after working 24 hours in two days with a bad cold I apologize.

That's why I am writing this here. Full disclosure. Not going around anybody's backs. And if anybody wants to take offense with me, let it be the patrons of S&B. Or Wolfgang.

So far, no one has taken me up on my offer BTW. And that's OK, I respect that. (And also none of them have sent me anything privately saying telling me how angry they are at me... So I assume they understood my intent. Thank you patrons!)
And just to be clear here's what I asked for:
- For a paper copy of S&B (printed black & white), I would pay the printing fees + shipping to the owner. (No profit there to anyone.)
- I offered to send 15$ to Wolfgang (if I remember correctly, he asks 10$). It feels like the honorable thing to do.
- I am not looking to get into print-on-demand business.
- I am not looking for a download, a PDF or pirate copy. Not interested.

I always buy PDFs to print or hardcopies of books. I have a BA in literature; I love books!

Also, I'm don't agree (not a copyright lawyer here) with you saying the patrons each own part of the copyright. I'm pretty sure OD owns that. And if that were the case, then anybody selling S&B should probably pay dividends to OD when selling their copy with a profit (?).

Going off on a bit of a tangent here... It's a new day for all media what with internet and new technologies. I think it's good to question ourselves about these things, cos it's really a new day for publishers. At this pace, we won't even recognize the publishing world in ten years...

So if anybody wants to discuss this... Carry on.
For anything more personal, that's what the Private Messages are for.

Have a good day everybody!
Patrick

let me explain clearly..

the short version is that you are asking someone to send you a copy of something they don't or you don't own the copyright on.. thats it.. the fact the you are doing it openly or nicely is of no importance..

I'm no lawyer myself I only said to simply explain a point, in all reality I expect that Wolfgang is the copyright owner of S&B.. he entered into an agreement when he started all this that it would be exclusive, is he legally bound by this? who knows but I belive that he is morally bound and that is really the issue..

If you want a copy of the item you should ask the copyright owner, Wolfgang, not a Patron.. and Wolfgang has said before that he is not giving out copies.. and so it ends...

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I am moving on to something else right now. Like I said, for anything else, you can PM me.

Have a good day Brette.
Thanks.

I missed the boat on the first couple of patron projects too. I wish I had participated, but I don't begrudge the original patrons' choice to keep those products as special, limited editions. If , at some point in the future Wolfgang and the patrons of those products decide to offer a new print run, I'll jump at the chance. Until then, I'll just pine away the late hours. Wink

If it wasn't Steam and Brass, I'd consider it a possibility. However, I don't think anyone who's got a copy would do that, it's a pretty limited crowd. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
