So, what's the difference between crunch and fluff? I'm new to the gaming web-community and these aren't terms i've heard before.

Crunch is usually considered the hard mechanics of the game-- like grapple rules or feats, class progression.

Fluff is the descriptive text for things, background and interaction. Less system-dependent material.

I've always preferred the terms Flavor and Mechanics.

Though widely used, thus I see no future where the terms will change, I feel there is a slight derogatory connotation to the term fluff, but then again, I'm a story guy.
