Hey, sometimes the threads I haven't gotten to reading yet all become marked as read, even when I don't click anything. Could someone explain what's going on and how I might change it so that a thread stays marked "unread" until I've actually read it? Thanks!

I frequently have this problem as well. Any solutions would be appreciated.

I found that if I login to the forum and it goes slow, I sometimes hit return or the space bar an extra time. When the forum finally comes up, everything's marked as read. It's like I logged in twice.

That's a truly odd bug, thank you for reporting it!
I'm not sure we have a fix, but the web mistress is working to update the whole set of boards (soon, we hope). Perhaps this issue will be addressed by that update. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Thanks! She knows about this problem at least, though, right?

Actually, this report is the first we've heard of it, but I've told her now. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

I have the opposite problem. Things I've marked as read get unmarked.

We've investigated and haven't found a quick fix. The site is liable to migrate in the new year, so.... This may not be fixed until February.
HOWEVER, if you can PM me with your browser and OS, that might help on this end. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Just thought I'd bump this since my current problem is a somewhat similar one, though the last one got fixed. Now whenever I log out then log in, all topics that were marked unread last time I was logged in get marked as read. New unread topics get marked as unread, though.

Here's a similar one; I'm having topics I've read stay unread. It's happened several times today. Windows XP, Firefox. When I use logoff on the forum, it sends me to the store, logged out. If I return to the forum, I'm still logged in. If I go back to the store and log on and then come to the forum everything seems to be working again for awhile.

I am seeing a similar issue. If I open up the forums, but don't read all the messages, and get logged out - when I come back later, everything I didn't open shows as read....? |

The solution is likely a whole new set of forum software. Stay tuned for more on that.... _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Just wondering, how's the forum software coming? Any ideas on when it'll be ready?

Have discussed it with the webmaster, and ready to move forward with it.... Er, as soon as things settle down a little bit.
The newborn kobold is just 5 weeks old, so we're fighting hard to stay on top of things. This work is important, but shipping the next issue of KQ is more important, so ... I hope to see this happen in late October. _________________ Wolfgang Baur
