Editorial Intern
General Position Summary
To assist in the editing of a variety of gaming supplements and fiction novels.
Functions / Major Responsibilities
Aid in the editing of d20 roleplaying gaming accessories and fantasy/sci-fi/horror novels published for worldwide circulation.
Take part in the editorial process of shepherding a project from concept to manuscript to printed publication.
Participate in the creative process of developing new gaming products.
Perform clerical duties necessary to support a publishing operation.
Job Scope
This job requires the intern to work with the Paizo staff to create and edit various publications, maintain the online presence of the company brand, and encourage knowledge and enjoyment of d20 tabletop roleplaying games.
Supervisory Responsibility
This job will not require the supervision of employees.
Interpersonal Contacts
Contacts are made both inside and outside the organization. Internal contacts include the rest of the editorial team, the art team, web team, customer service, and Paizo management. External contacts include authors and related freelancers.
Specific Job Skills
Mastery of the English language, including skill at writing and considerable grammatical knowledge.
Familiarity with computers, including word processing software, e-mail, the internet, and related programs.
Ability to remain alert and focused on repeated reading and editing assignments for hours at a time.
Flexibility in learning house writing and editing styles.
Skill at communicating and respectfully debating in a professional setting.
A love of reading, especially fantasy, science fiction, and horror literature.
A vibrant imagination.
Education and/or Experience
Ongoing college education, preferably with a focus in English or related fields.
Knowledge of and a passion for pen-and-paper roleplaying games.
Job Conditions
Office located in the Bellevue area of Seattle, Washington—applicants should be local.
A flexible 20-hour workweek in typical office working conditions.
Job will require rapid adaptation to a large workload and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Experience editing for aggressive deadlines.
Familiarity with the tools and software utilized in modern publishing and pen-and-paper game design.
Hands-on knowledge of varied publishing tasks, from writing to distribution.
Insight into the history of fantasy/science fiction and fantasy gaming.
Printed name credit within a variety of publications.

Hell, forget that, Open Design is looking for an unpaid intern in the Seattle area!!!
We might throw in bread and water, too. And a helmet and 23 candles a day, for use in the mines.

For some reason, I read that as "A flexible d20-hour workweek! I crack myself up sometimes.
