Curses...
Here I am eagerly awaiting my paycheck on the 13th so I can get my grubby hands on the Tales of Zobeck, the one Open Design Project I've been drooling over and.... it's too late. I have to say I understand the concept behind the Open Design process but the exclusive element is... frustrating. I'm sure this topic has come up before, likely many times, but still I have to ask: Is there any chance for the level of exclusiveness to these projects might be taken down a notch? Perhaps permitting someone to donate money to one product but rather than get access to it they can get a pdf of an older one? By way of example I have no interest in 4th edition nor the present dwarf one (I love dwarves but I just don't find it as interesting as Tales of Zobeck was) and I know I missed the cutoff point by a matter of days.
It's just frustrating when the problem is not only money but time as well. I love just about everything I've seen from Wolfgang Baur and it's irksome that I found out about all this too little too late and would love to see something that might cause that to ease up, at least a little.

DMRenfield, I hear ya and the projects are opening up a little bit over time.
For instance, a good chunk of the Tales of Zobeck project was made into a public release, the Zobeck Gazetteer.
I'm hoping to take the exclusivity down a notch with the next one as well: it will also have a public Gazetteer, and it may have a preview or other freebie so that people can see why these projects are attracting an audience. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Also, what Wolfgang has done in the past is put products on sale when they get an ENnie nomination so that folks who want to see them and vote can get them. So, keep your fingers crossed for a) a nomination and b) Wolfgang repeating himself. |

That would be cool! I'll have to see if someone is willing to part with their Tales of Zobeck pdf or something otherwise. Cursed Tuition taking away my money for gaming products Ah well. Thanks for providing the Gazetteer, I didn't learn about Zobeck until I picked up a couple print issues of Kobold Quarterly on a whim two weeks ago and read up on some of the thieves guilds of Zobeck (running a thief guild campaign and they were perfect for it) so I picked up the Gazetteer, unfortunately Christmas killed my funds for anything else. |
