A fun proposal, of course, but I don't want anyone thinking I've given this idea a green light. I have some ideas on how to do it, but... It's probably not a magazine.
Understood. But if this gets beyond the proposal stage, please put my name in the hat, Christine!

Oh man! Me too. I'd be more than happy to help out in any way you'd let me. Smile

I would also be interested in some adventure writing. It is what I like best. So if this idea gets off the ground I will be interested.

I think we've got interested folks. Now, to convince Wolfgang it'd be a profitable project. Smile

I think he likes the idea, but per his and my earlier posts, we just don't have the bandwidth (SAN points?) available. Maybe it would make a good project pitch. . .If someone is foolish enough to commit their entire life to it for a few years, like Wolfgang did (does). . .

Obviously, most of the work is in the edit/layout/art/maps stuff, but from a writing perspective I would be willing to commit to 4 adventures a year for a quarterly adventure mag. Get 5 or six writers to do the same plus some random entries and material from more established freelancers who would likely want to be involved and you could build up a pile of adventures that you could rely on pretty fast.

I'm sure you won't be short on writers for such a project and I hope to be one of them from time to time if it ever happens... but you are right Christina. the rentability of such an endeavour must be establish before launching the project. How about a survey or poll?

Well, I'm certainly foolish enough. Laughing

I had thought about pitching it for the summer pitch, but I'm not sure it's sexy enough for a win. Patrons want projects they can really get involved in.

This may be an idea that gets shelved until 2013...but you never know.

Wolfgang would have to give the go-ahead for such a poll, but I like the idea, Jarrod.

I do wonder if a kickstarter project to just publish a book of adventures without patron involvement would go over at all? Just curious.

I think there's only one way to know, so why not try it? Wink

Worth a shot. Some patrons do like to be involved, sure, but there is a sizable population of lurkers who just want the cool book at the end.

Oh, I made it pretty clear early in the thread that I'm not interested in publishing another magazine. I am still hoping someone else picks that up.

However, it is pitching season right now for Open Design, and the senior patrons have a couple more weeks to think up cool projects they would like to lead. If this project is one of those pitches, I would not be at all surprised.

I'm working up a pitch for it now.
