Yep, sales are hard to gauge, and I think you are smart to be conservative for the show. Even if you just break even, I think it's a lot of fun to meet online friends in person, and see new people discover your work as they stroll by.

Okay, lotsa art this time, because I was certain I was posting this in bunches of two but my mind slipped. Anyway, I have two poll responses, plus two PCs from the Carrion Crown game I'm currently a player in.
Buck is still on his adventure, just having started his test of courage to become a true man. His path is rife with nerve-plucking terrors of a psychological nature.
Also, like I said, I've been drawing the PCs for the campaign I'm playing in. So far I've done two, with four more to go. The first one was mine, of course, and the other players saw it and now want their own. First is my peppy gnome bard, Spackle Thrush, and the second is the half-vampire archer, Cassimara Raventhorn.

My party in the Carrion Crown campaign saw my drawing of Spackle, so now I'm doing like 5 more character portraits, which means no more Buck's story for a little while. So far (including Spackle) I've done about half the party. Party members I've done so far are our dhampir archer and our half-orc paladin of Iomedae.
We also have a guest this week, Tara Helfer, of the 72 Demons project, who did a very cool Owlbear.

So it looks like I've finally come to the end of drawings party members and going back to drawing monsters (what his blog is supposed to be about, right?)
The last party member (Tark Skullcutter, former human barbarian) died before I could draw him, so he gets a lovely portrait of his corpse and his horrible risen soul as a wraith, which is what killed him. This week's monster is the demilich, because Joe suggested I do something from the Epic Level Handbook.

Happy Holidays to y'all on this here website. I hope you've had a Merry Christmas (or other mid-december festivity) and will have a good New Year in a few days.
Right now I am at home for the holidays to visit my family. I don't see them that much (or not as much as they wish I saw them), so I usually spend two weeks with my parents around this time of year. Unfotunately, this means that my ability to art is a little bit impaired by a puttering laptop (and I'm too rusty with traditional methods and I don't know if the scanner here is still working anyway), so I'm not gonna be posting for a while.
But other people will.
Your Christmas post this year is the Gaspar, a multi-antlered giant deer that will teleport your patootie elsewhere in the interdimensional mess that's D&D cosmology. Because isn't that what Christmas is all about?
The drawing was done by my buddy Adam Vian, who's already done two drawings for me before (the Crypt Thing and the Glaistig).
Also a super special thank you to everybody that's been looking at this forum thread, because I really wasn't expecting such a high number when I glanced over the 'Views' column. Seriously, the amount is wowsers.
The New Year's post will also be by Not-Me but I think it'll be pleasing none-the-less.
Honestly, this is a really serendipitous year when it comes to posting celebratory images.

New Year, new art, new weeks where I've forgotten to update on the forums.
Anyway, happy 2012. Let's hope this year proves productive for me. I'm planning a new showreel-portfolio package that I'm going to be sending around the studios here.
Three images of the past few weeks that I've neglected to post here:
-The Bacchae, by Joe Sparrow, former regular on the website. We had fun trying to decide on a New Year's-themed monster and the crowd of magically drunken revellers fit.
-The Satyr, me experimenting a (very little) bit with nib pens. When I was back home I found an old calligraphy set, but one of them was skinny enough for drawing.
-Knell Beetle. Oh Wizards, you tickle my funny bone sometimes, you crazy cats.

Been busy these last coupla weeks with various things. This included me going around dropping off showreels to various studios, a repeat of which I'm doing today.
If I don't get any work from this, I'm going to throw the biggest hissy fit.
Still trying to work up the courage to send a portfolio to Paizo and Wizards.
Dungeons and Drawings is now 9,000 hits away from the 100,000 mark. I think I should do something special for that, but I'm not sure what. I've already done dragons and gods. Maybe drawings of the 3.5 D&D official adventurers?

That clockwork mender is pretty nice. The wing blur is a good idea.
I would love to see drawings of the Zobeck official races (human, dwarf, elf, gearforged, kobold, minotaur) as adventurers.

I'll probably do a minotaur at some point. It's an awfully classic creature. I'm still a good few thousand hits off the mark, so I won't have to draw it for a month and a half or so on.
I did a Disenchanter this week, another creature designed to correct your mistake of letting the party get a little too powerful. It seems like every other monster I come across now is something a wizard made and then lost control of. To the point where I've made a tag for it now.
This is the first background I've done since forever ago. The last background I drew was for the Black Dragon, which wasn't that good to begin with.

This is the Abeil, my creature for the week and also my 3d modelling practice. I wanted to make something quite low-poly under the illusion that it would be easier to rig. Well, I don't know if it was any easier to rig, but it was stupid and frustrating and when I was mostly done I figured out that maybe I could've done it another less stupid and frustrating way. Make mistakes and learn, I guess.
I decided to do a little research on bees as well, because sometimes I do things like that. On conclusion of said research, I was quite disappointed that Wizards didn't exploit the horrors of real bee society. Look at the blog post for the interesting facts I found.
Almost caught up with my posting schedule now. If I manage to make another picture in the next few days I should be done.

I love that animation. It's got a lot of character, which I don't usually associate with insects.
And yes, wizards do create lots of silly monsters. Apparently it's a wizardly tradition.

Here's the Ice Serpent, a creature of the world of Faerūn. It's really nice and interesting to draw a snake that's 100% constricting rather than the venomous kind, and I enjoyed the challenge of trying to find a way to communicate that (coils, coils everywhere).
This particular beast kills you by squeezing the life-heat out of you and absorbing it into itself. Supposedly it's invisible (according to the book's flavour text), but it doesn't seem to have that taken into account in its stats. It says its always surrounded by the debris it dislodges as it moves, but what if you happen to have it in a stone room? Something to experiment with on the players I guess.
I was originally going for a Mignola look with this, but that devolved quite quickly into my usualy cutesiness. Because that's the way I roll, though I was really trying to roll in a different direction for this image. Oh well.

Dang looking at all these Kobold PCs from the contest makes me really really regret forgetting about it until the day after the final submission. I mean, dang, that's a real waste and shame on my part. And I had a good idea too. I guess I'll save it for an actual game though.
Oh yeah, it turns out I'm still alive. I've just been really really busy with work and a combination of drawing all day and long commutes (and my D&D responsibilities and the temptation of Skyward Sword) means that I've been too tired to do things for the blog.
But I'm trying to catch up now, so here's two monsters: the drow and the chronotyryn.
I don't think I have to explain drow to you guys, but I'll give you a sentence. Evil elves with black skin that have a spider fetish.
The chronotyryn is something a bit more interesting, unusual and hasn't really saturated fantasy gaming culture the way drow have (and didn't make it's way in 4E even though it's an interesting concept). Essentially, it's a really big, highly intelligent bird with adamantine feathers and a double brain and voice box. They have dangerous magical powers, and a good amount of time-related spell-like abilities.
