And perhaps this next question is for another thread, but do you have an overall map of Zobeck and surrounding environs? I know there are various maps in the OD projects and I'm figuring you might have something at least in your mind about the "world" out there. So...do you?  |

I do have such a map and lost of material on Morgau, Rothenia, , but discussing the lands "beyond the city walls" is a bit of a stretch right now. I suspect we'll take the Greyhawk approach of discussing one section at a time.
So, right now, the Ironcrags to the west of the city will get some attention. In a future project, perhaps the lands north of the forest or the Rothenian lands to the east.
Or heck, go south to the Bandit lands, Siwal, and the Empire.
There's a whole world there.

A boxed set is so retro it hurts.

Maybe the boxed set would be a good open design project - you could institute a higher threshold at which the set is commissioned, and include the condition that once the group commissioned and designed it the boxed set would be available to the public.
My intuition has long been that the strength of the open design concept lies in the fact that it's the fruit of numerous authors, some of whom are wanting to see how professional RPG writers actually design products. Though I'm not a professional RPG writer, I have written professionally for newspapers and as an academic - and there are fewer barriers for writers who have design credits to their name. I would think a patron of the Zobeck boxed set who receives a contributor's credit would have something real to put on their vita, and making the work readily available to the public allows others to see a finished product to go with that vita.
Just my $.02, though. I think an intentionally retro box set could be a winner if marketed properly - it would have the retro box set market cornered. With a commission to defray costs up front it might even be doable, and would only strengthen the vitas of anyone who contributes to it.
