Just wanted to give my fellow gamers a heads up about the items I listed tonight on eBay - many adventure modules and accessories, but more importantly two Open Design projects:
Castle Shadowcrag (220382807640) and Empire of the Ghouls (220382810472)
Yep, you read that right - I'm cleaning out my gaming supplies, and decided to put these two great projects up for auction too; I just don't have time to run them along with the other games and campaigns I have going on and set to start in the future.
My user name is garyfran - please email me or send a message through eBay for questions.
I hate to get rid of these great products, but I need the money for Gen Con! |

Not to stir anything, but I assume you are selling the hard copies and not the PDF versions...

This is the first time I've seen OD stuff for sale on eBay...I'm curious to see how high the bidding will go!
Good Luck! |

Absolutely! I'd be a dick to sell PDF copies. And the bidding is going through the roof! Didn't think that would happen, but I'm very pleased. Auctions end tomorrow. |

Thanks for the reply.
I really did not mean to insult you in any way, btw (which I think you understood).
Cool.
Good luck!

w00t! over $115 for Shadowcrag! That's awesome!
Was the winner with a last minute bid, for either book? |

On Shadowcrag it went down to the last FOUR SECONDS!!! Two guys were in a bidding war in the last two minutes - I couldn't believe it went for that much. Just wish I had bought three copies.
On Ghouls, the bid stayed the same for the last two days of the auction and never wavered - I figured it would go for more, but I'm not disappointed. |

I figured that Shadowcrag would go for more because it was the second OD and therefore rarer than the larger Ghouls.
Imagine how much a Steam & Brass would go for - there are probably fewer copies out there than the original patrons (though everyone had a chance to make a Lulu purchase).
And no, I'm not selling mine! I don't want to find out that badly! [grin] |

I've debated taking one to a convention as a charity fund-raising item. But it sort of depends on the audience. Certainly the print run was extremely short; no more than 50 copies, likely less.
In collector's terms, that's sort in the Palace of the Silver Princess category.
Hm. Maybe at PaizoCon? Not sure they are doing a charity auction, though. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

I know I wanted to buy one, but didn't. Cashflow is everything!
So yeah, that's a really good point Wolfgang. These are Palace of the Silver Princess-like products. Charity would certainly benefit from one of these going up someday. Or if there's one of those situations you see from time to time like the Daniel Fund where a gamer's child or spouse is in a horrible situation and would benefit from the money. |

One idea I've been thinking about proposing to you, Wolfgang was something of this sort:
When Open Design has its 5 year (or 10 year anniversary, or both), release all the old projects for a very limited time (maybe 1 day?-the anniversary day) but give plenty of forewarning.
Charge $100 each (or so) and split the profits between Open Design and a game related charity.
I think that would be beautiful. |

| Good idea, especially if it were pdf only. (Don't know if it will work with Steam and Brass, but the rest can't hurt either.) |

Hm, that's worth keeping around as a thought.
The 5th anniversary of the Open Design launch would be March 20, 2011. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Bah, how come I only notice this thread after the auction is done. I so would have paid more than that for Empire!
Next time.... |

If voices matter, I would give very serious consideration to such a deal. If the chosen charity were a child literacy charity, it'd be a done deal - I'd be one product at $100 if half went towards child literacy. _________________ John Ling
