So, anyone got recommendations for good gearforged minis? Especially squads? Please post links! (If you paint your own, how do the ones you bought so far go together, handle, etc?)

I got nuthin'....*but* your request just made me think how rad it'd be if you had some tiny gears out of a busted old watch or three, you could glue them to strategic parts of the mini to at least mod an existing 'close enough' mini to simulate the effect.

Hmmm.... (like I need another project right now)

I missed a couple of issues of KQ, and I haven't seen the Zobeck book, so I'm more than a little sketchy on the look of gearforged.

That said, I have the 'Kolyarut' D&D mini near the top of this page:

...that seems to be a good choice for a 'clockwork' character.

It's a rare, though, so squads would be a bit prohibitive.

Yeah, kolyarut, I'll have to get at least one of those then. Thanks.

Daigle - you can buy cannisters of little watch parts (cogs, gears, movements) online for $2-3 apiece. In fact, I made some terrain for Wolfgang that had those crusted on the walls as part of a Gear Goddess temple. So I have plenty of those for basing and whatnot. Problem is really with the look of the figure. Muscles and bone look a lot different. There is one cool mini from Magnificent Egos that I found that will do for some, but it's not going to work for clockwork soldiers and whatnot.

Thanks for the help so far!

If you can find them, there are the SJG Steampunk minis

seen here

Good luck, Amazon shows it'll ship in 1-3 weeks for $20.

Thanks, yeah. I thought about picking up that set even though I'm not going to buy six sets to get one squad. There's enough there to work with for other encounters.

for my own campaign (blend of zobeck and ptolus) i use mageknight minis. There are several mechanical/steampunk robot minis as well as minis with pistols, etc.

I just cut them off of the clicky base and glue them onto an appropriately sized base.

Works well for me! Of course, the pain jobs are total crap... but you can repaint if you need to. recommend for npc and monster only. PC's deserve higher quality minis in my opinion.

not good so much for gearforged, but for npc clockwork minis for zobeck, these are pretty good.
