I have just released a free tool in support of the thriving 3.5 community via the Monster Advancer (http://www.monsteradvancer.com).
This compact suite of applications allows for swift monster generation, advancement and customization, all within the context of 3rd edition(3.5). What once took up to an hour of dungeon masters' time, now takes seconds. Large Fiendish, Half-Dragon Dire Wolves with 18 hit dice can now take their place of honor amongst the kraken and the hydra.
There are currently three applications worthy of note: There is a version made for massive customization (allowing templates, magical items and equipment , stat adjustments and feat selection), a version made for speed and simplicity, and another which can generate multiple creatures randomly based on the challenge rating or encounter level desired.
The entire project is completely free and available now. It is continuing to be enhanced daily with the ability to add class levels coming by the end of the week.
My goal is to help foster and reinvigorate the 3.5 community by contributing to the tools that enhance the game by allowing time for creativity rather than crunching numbers. |

| That was fast! I am glad you like it. Send any feedback or requests to the overlord address on the site. The character class adding will be in the application around Friday. The front page of the site will have new feature news on it then as well so you will know when I have completed it. Have fun. |

That is something that I have toyed with but it is slightly trickier than it sounds. It is definitely on the radar but most likely not until I get all of the main features of the online version done. (Such as getting every creature from the monster manual 1 into the application). Granted even with all the things I expect to do, I don't anticipate that it will be too long. Although, it all depends on what people really want. If a large number of people really want an offline version I could very well up the time-table.
So, short answer: yes, eventually. |

Just wanted to keep people in the know about what is upcoming for Monster Advancer (http://www.monsteradvancer.com).
In my next release that will be sometime this week I intend to include the following:
- A dozen or so new creatures including several more golems and blink dogs as well as more classes for class level use -- trolls, goblins, gnolls and of course the greastest of all monsters - gnomes.
- Also finishing the implementation of the half-dragon template that will allow selection of any colored dragon (metallic and chromatic) you wish.
- For those who realize that the main customizer can take a few seconds to load initially, I will have altered it to never close and merely open new windows for each creature you advance...this way there is no longer any loading, reloading of this javascript intensive page. (This will especially help those poor bastards who still insist on using Internet Explorer(aka The Firefox Downloader)). All jokes aside this application (at least the main portion) works about twice as well in a standards compliant browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, etc.)) The quickened app and the random encounter generator both work in the iPhone last time I checked as well.
Keep in mind that I am in full development mode and hope to continue to get new features, creatures and fixes out quickly. If you mention something that you want you will most likely get it. The squeaky wheel gets oiled and whatnot... |
