OK, I am trying to add an avatar and I can't do it!
I can find the avatar control panel in profile, but I can't get anything to work. I click on avatar gallery but no images come up.
I have an image I'd really like to use, but it's on my desktop ... how do I get it uploaded? There is a place to enter a URL, but what is the URL of your desktop???
Last question, the instructions for using your own avatar say the image can't be more than 6K. Is that right? 6K is really small! I can't even get the image down past around 80K.

Your desktop doesn't have a usable URL. You'll need to upload the image to somewhere on the internet. There's quite a few image hosting services out there. photobucket.com is a popular one I see a lot of people using on other forums.

6K doesn't seem all that bad of a size to me, at least when it comes to an avatar image. *shrug*
The easiest way to test if it's right, certainly, is to attempt to use a larger image and see what happens.
