I love 3.5 as a system, in fact, I suspect that even if I become a lich and played for a 1000 years, I still will have much to learn and do with the system. That said, I am fully aware that 3.5 will (if it is not already) be the system of grognards. With this in mind, I am trying to get my hands on things that are currently available that will soon not be.
What I ask is that if there is anything that you can think of that you consider to be a must for 3.5 that is currently available, can you post that here and say why you consider it a must for 3.5.
I have almost all of the WOTC rule books (or I am trying to get them), so no need to list them. If there is a WOTC setting type book that you think has good general 3.5 material, please let me know about that. In fact the reason for this post is I have ignored all the setting books in my book collection and then read a post that mentioned that a Forgotten Realms book had a class that (the poster said) many thought should have been a core 3.5 class.
A good example of the things that I have and am glad that I found are:
Dungeon Bash (a solitaire game that uses 3.5 rules)
the SORD for 3.5 (a good summary of the 3.5 rules)
The SRD interfaces (kudos to the people who made these, they are great!)
What I am looking for is the stuff that I have missed. My goal is to find out about cool stuff and get them before they become a memory.
Thanks for your help. |

Deinol's recommendations are good (especially on the Malhavoc stuff). I would also add:
Advanced Bestiary, from Green Ronin
Airships, from Bastion Press (if you like that sort of thing)
Poisoncraft, from Blue Devil Games (almost impossible to find and they pulled the pdf!)
Eldritch Sorcery, Necromancer Games
City of Brass, Necromancer Games (again, if you like this genre)
Nyambi, Atlas Games (genre)
Call of Cthulhu d20
Tome of Horrors (all; Necromancer Games)
Relics and Rituals, Sword & Sorcery Studios
Ancient Kingdoms: Mesopotamia
Tournaments, Fairs & Taverns, EnPublishing
Probably a few I haven't listed like "anything by Open Design but it's freakin' rare" or "Ptolus"! |

Varianor,
Thanks, looks like I am going to have a lot of research to do (only 2 posts, and I already see a fair amount of things that I might enjoy but don’t know enough about right now).
Well I guess I did ask for it

Tim: of the suggestions that have been posted so far, I own Advanced Bestiary, Relics and Rituals, and Tome of Horrors. I also have either Advanced GM's Guide or Advanced Player's Guide - I forget which.
I'll bring all four to the game Saturday so you can take a look at them. _________________ John Ling

John (Zherog)
Thanks that will help a lot. When I started this thread, I figured I would get things that I had heard of but had just forgotten (and there is some of that here already), but there are many things that I am only dimly aware of (like the advanced guides).
I was planning on asking for your thoughts on some of the stuff listed here at the next game anyway |

I own several of the Mongoose Publishing Quintessential books and have enjoyed those alot. They have added alot to my games.
Most note worthy that I can think of right now would be
Quitessential Wizard
Quintessential Monk
Quintessential Elf
those are probably my most used books from that series but I have found them all interesting and have taken gems from them all. |

Though they are not OGL I have greatly utilized the Kalamar supplements. Dangerous Denizens, Fury in the Wastelands, Kalamar Player's Guide, Gnomes and Kobolds in particular have got a lot of use from me as has Kenzer's book on designing villains.
The Rules Compendium is my WotC must have. I also enjoyed the Draconomicon and Lord's of Madness.
Add The Book of the Righteous to the Green Ronin list and the Freeport books. |

I would add:
Egyptian Adventures: Hamunaptra, Green Ronin Publishing. It's quite well done and very adaptable. 3 book boxed set.
There's currently a sale on it at Paizo.com |
