For those of us late to the party, what exactly is the internal chronology to the various Freeport modules?

Death in Freeport, Terror in Freeport, and Madness in Freeport come first. (These are the original trilogy.)

Hell in Freeport, Black Sails over Freeport, and Crisis in Freeport all assume (IIRC) that the original trilogy has occurred, but none of them assume that others of the three have happened.

Dark Wings over Freeport uses the Pirate's Guide information, which assumes that the original trilogy, Black Sails, and Crisis all happened. I don't recall anything about whether it assumes Hell happened or not, but I don't have the books in front of me at the moment.

Hope that helps!

These have been updated to to 3.5 and bundled in the Freeport Trilogy Five Year Edition. They are followed by Vengeance in Freeport, also updated to 3.5. I'm assuming Creatures of Freeport is also 3.5

Hell and Black Sails are not listed on Green Ronin's website, so I'm assuming 3.0 and no longer available. Crisis lists as 3.5.

Pirate's Guide, Cults, and Bucaneers are all listed as system neutral resources. The 3rd Era and Pathfinder Companions provide system-specific information. I assume there's some overlap.

Creatures was the first 3.5 Freeport book - the Freeport Trilogy Anniversary Edition, Crisis, and the 3rd Era Companion all used those rules too.

Hell and Black Sails are available in print at resellers - IIRC, both were at Noble Knight the last time I looked - but I certainly haven't been able to find pdf versions.

There is a fair amount of overlap between the 3rd Era Companion and the PFRPG version. I haven't done a line-by-line comparison, but having read both, they covered a lot of the same ground.

Hope that helps!

Very much so.

I never played Freeport, but I've heard good things about it. While PF looks interesting, and I've supported some OD projects for it, I think I'm gonna have to pass on the current project. Xmas is too close and that $ gotta stretch a little farther this year.

Make sure to save some $ for next summer, then, when you can pick up the final adventure! Very Happy
(Assuming that commissioning goes well, of course.)

And of course, Green Ronin already had this info. I don't know how I missed it when I looked previously.
