I'm just curious as to how those who purchased the Zobeck Gazetteer have used it? Have you integrated Zobeck into an existing campaign, or have you used Zobeck in its Midgard wolrd (waiting and purchasing supplements as they've been released)? I know some people just like setting supplements for ideas. Where do you stand?
Personally, I've used it as-is, having transplanted one PC there via planar travel for a solo campaign. Then, use the setting to run a Pathfinder game with my entire group when I playtest adventures (using pre-gens). _________________ Christina Stiles

Well, I HAVE a plan...
I have an interesting spot in my homebrew that would fit well for SoZ. Zobeck is truly unique and so I've decided to just adapting the SoZ locations, NPCs and adventures into my own city. That won't be for a while. I have one or two adventure paths to finish up first. _________________ Kobold Minion #66

But, James, those APs seem to never end! I haven't run any of the APs, but I do subscribe to them. I mainly use those for ideas--when I'm even able to keep up with reading them. My group meets so infrequently that it would take way too long to get through one AP book. I'd rather just run smaller adventures for the time being. _________________ Christina Stiles

Hi,
I put Zobeck into my campaign setting which is also Europe-shaped - see map here. When I ran Halls of the Mountain King, the PCs travelled from Parsantium to Zobeck overland, experienced a short adventure in Zobeck and then flew via airship to the Ironcrags. I'm hoping I can lots of bits of Midgard into my setting without too much hassle
Courts of the Shadow Fey, however, will start in Parsantium.
Cheers

Oh, its not an official Pathfinder AP, its one of my own construction (although I do supplement it with material from Dungeon and other published products). I too like to get bits from here or there. Back to the mines! _________________ Kobold Minion #66

I slotted Zobeck into my dungeonaday campaign as a place for the party to go to do business as they started to push 8th-9th level. Of course, it was also a place to get ripped off, have crazy adventures, and generally get into trouble.
I used a lot of the kaisers bazaar products for the shopping, and both streets and alleys of zobeck for adventures. I also used Zobeck as a base point to send the group out to halls of the mountain king.
I'm planning on placing dragon's delve (the dungeon of dungeonaday) north of zobeck, beyond the margreave forest. I'm going to use midgard with some revisions for my campaign world, and I'm already beginning to integrate some of the areas of the world from the messageboards and playtest copy into my home game.
Zobeck is awesome, basically stuttgart or medieval Prague with a fantasy spin, and I really resonate with that, being half German and having lived for a summer in Prague.

This may be a bad example, based on my limited knowledge of Zobeck, but I used it in Forgotten Realms as an ancient city nestled within the mountain ranges north of Calimshan during the great wars between the Djinn and Efreeti. It was used as a refuge for those that would escape, and Zobeck is where the knowledge of clockwork golemns was first developed, that eventually evolved to the creation of warforged. That is how I brought the race into Forgotten realms. Basically Zobeck was a throwback to the golden age.
Based on that I introduced the party to the Halls of the Mountain King (4E), in reference to the dwarf citadels that could be found through the mountainous region. |

Hi Christina (and all),
So far, what has been great about Zobeck / Midgard to me, is how easy it is to integrate into any of my campaigns.
Campaign 1- Mysteries of Darkon: I have a Ravenloft campaign on hold where I set the frontier city of Nartok, in Darkon, as Zobeck. It's close to a Black Forest (the Margraeve - Castle Shadowcrag), a range of mountains (Dwarven Ironcrags). The realm of Darkon is ''infested'' with Undead (close ties for Ghoul Empire).
And Ravenloft is set with different cultural levels, so I can add any steampunk element in the city without breaking the mood of the setting.
And I can play ToZ, SoZ, BotG there...
Campaign 2 - Madness Rising: A Ptolus campaign, brand new, just two sessions in. Obviously, for those familiar with Ptolus, I can't just rename the city and move it. (Monte Cook says you can , but it wouldn't feel right to me.)
But again, it's very easy to transplant stuff from Zobeck / Midgard. I have made Clockwork Sentinels an uncommon thing in the city, but there are more and more being made...
Also, I will include the Mouse Kingdom. It is just too cool not to play with. BotG is already on its way (And we're at 1st level!).
NOW, what I am wondering about is how I will use Midgard as a full setting (patron for the Midgard project). Will I still be able to borrow? Is it going to make me run a full Midgard campaign?
I know I am in this for the long run.
A question of my own: Wolfgang said Midgard will be an evolving world, how will this be implemented into the ongoing products? I am very curious to see this...

Great post! Excellent use of the city, for sure.

He means evolving in that the rulers don't always keep their thrones. Borders could change. Gods could be chained--or unchained. Things like that. My player just ousted the sitting King of the Kobold Kings in my Zobeck campaign, for instance. Now he'll have to deal wtih whatever fallout may come from the remaining disgruntled kings and likely have to kilil them. That's just an example.
Stay tuned for the upcoming Open Design project's announcement, which just might include an element of that Midgard evolution in it. Ain't I a tease? _________________ Christina Stiles

Thanks Christina,
Oh, I knew that's what it was, but I a very curious and interested in how he'll pull that off.
That is without any nerdrage from the Midgard followers.
But I do have to say that these boards (and the Fraternity of Shadows for RL and Paizo) are simply some of the friendliest boards out there, so I'm not too worried.
Any ETA on that announcement?
Tease.

I have plans for pulling off the ongoing change and/or more dynamic setting. Heck, things have changed in Zobeck since the first rumblings of 2006 (new Mouse King, changes in the Order, etc).
I think the proof of this is in the doing. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Right you are sir!
I forgot about these...
I guess in this day and age of shockers ''nothing will ever be the same!'', this issue, Spider-man dies!!!!! I was thinking more along the way of ''We blew up the moon!!'
It's easy to forget the ''little'' changes.
Thank you!
But then again this is so seamless I did not even notice I was making all these changes in my campaign!
