It's been a while since I've posted here, but I thought given the situation that has developed the Open Desigin/KQ crew might be interested.
Here's the gist: Every year I participate in HoNoToGroABeMo (How Not to Grow A Beard Month) wherein a bunch of geeks from around the internet grow our beards in November, gather sponsorships, and donate the funds to the Breast Cancer research foundation. We post pictures and write our thoughts here (www.honotogroabemo.org).
Here's where all this becomes particularly relevant to the gaming crowd (beyond that most of the participants are gamers). Matt Goetz, freelance game designer for D&D and more has offered up some really cool prizes for people who sponsor my beard. To make matters more awesome, his wife, the very talented Roxxy Goetz has offered to provide illustrations to make the prizes more incredible.
As if fighting breast cancer wasn't enough the prizes are as follows (dependent on how much I receive in sponsorships by the end of the month).
$250 - Matt designs a set of monsters custom just for you and Roxxy illustrates them. That's right, get a professional game designer to make a baddie just for you AND get it illustrated.
At $300 Roxxy will throw in 3 character portraits. That's three more winners from my sponsors.
At $400 it's up to 4 portraits.
At $500 Matt upgrades the monster design work into work on a full short adventure, also illustrated by Roxxy AND we go up to 5 character portraits.
You could sponsor me for $5, you could sponsor me for $20, you could toss in $100...you get the satisfaction of helping us stamp out breast cancer AND there's a pretty good chance at winning fabulous, professionally designed and illustrated gaming stuff.
More details are here (and the $$ icon is where you click to sponsor me): http://honotogroabemo.org/index/post/712 _________________ Jeff Greiner...
