I'm addicted to purchasing OGL/d20 products. I have more than enough to satisfy my gaming needs for years to come. And yet, I want more.
So -- what are some of your favorite books (or other supplements) from 3rd party publishers? Other than Kobold Quarterly, of course. That goes without saying.
Here's a few of the ones I have that I use regularly, just to get things rolling:
Creature Collection, from Sword and Sorcery Studios -- I had this book before I had the 3.0 Monster Manual. There's some really neat critters in it, and the flavor of their Scarred Lands campaign provides enough interesting detail without overwhelming the product.
Tome of Horrors, from Necromancer Studios -- I love this book, simply for the nostalgic feel it provides.
Traps and Treachery, by Fantasy Flight Games -- I had this before Song and Silence (also for 3.0) came out. I also like it better. Far more info for the sneaky skill monkeys, with some really good stuff for GMs, too.
I'll add a few more over the weekend; I'm not in front of my books, and want to make sure I get book titles and company names right.
So -- what're your favs? _________________ John Ling

Cool list Zherog. I’m an old Dungeon fan, so anything along that line attracts my attention.
I’ve recently started reading Sinister Adventures. I think it’s very high end – nice art and layout.
You may have seen it, but if you are into swashbuckling at all, there’s a supplement called “Art of the Duel” which has every feat and move related to rapier-style swordplay. I liked it because it had feats I would actually select, without unbalancing my game.
Then on the other side of things there are couple adventures for the Survival Horror sub-genre. So far I have read “Still Waters” and “Mysteries of the Razor Sea”. I was into them both.
I have recently come around and realized that I like full-sized map supplements. I used to think they were a waste of money but now I seem to be looking to collect them. I’ve been recycling them for campaigns so I better appreciate their value. Is there anything out there that I might have missed that comes with a decent grid fold-out map? |

Nice thread!
Tome of Horrors, from your list, would certainly be on mine as well. In addition I enjoy using the Advanced Bestiary. After playing for years, I get annoyed sometimes when someone in my crew instantly recognizes even the most obscure critter. With this book I can apply a few changes and keep my group on their toes.
I'll have to check out Traps and Treachery. That sounds right up my alley. Great suggestions there as well, Shoanti. |

I'm a huge fan of the Advanced Bestiary from Green Ronin. It's out of print, but the PDF is still available and there's always eBay.
I'm also very curious about the Pact Magic book from Radiance House. Any got it, and a thumbs up/down recommendation? _________________ Wolfgang Baur

I will absolutely second Tome of Horrors! In addition, I'm very fond of Eldritch Sorcery and City of Brass, also from Necromancer.
Definite props to:
Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved and its supplements
Anger of Angels
Ptolus
Poisoncraft, from Blue Devil Games
Nyambe, African Adventures
Airships, by Sam Witt, Bastion Press
Hammer and Helm, by Jesse Decker
There's probably more. Sorry to folks that I'm not remembering off the top of my little pointy head. |

Wolfgang, I too am interested in Pact Magic, but have yet to get it (fantastic promo video!). So this is me daring you to test those waters first and tell me how it is.

This could easily sound bias, as I co-host Dark Whispers the offical podcast of Sinister Adventures, and I've also co-written a book for their Dark Horizons sci-fi line, but I agree. Though they have a slow release rate on product, the quality is exceptional.

I have Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary and use it semi-regularly. I love the stuff in it, but as a GM I'm pretty lazy; I'd rather grab a critter from a book rather than doing the math of applying a template, at least in most cases.
Some other stuff I like a lot, now that I'm in front of my bookshelf:
Monte Cook's World of Darkness, from White Wolf. Absolutely spectacular book, and does a fantastic job of mixing the modern world with the supernatural in a d20 setting.
Frost and Fur, by Monkey God Enterprises. What a great book! This is one I wanted to mention yesterday, but I couldn't remember the company's name. If you plan on ever having your game set in a frozen area, you need this book. What a wonderful mix between fluff and crunch, and also very well split between player and GM.
Good and Evil from AEG. Both of these predate WotC's attempts at the alignment book (Book of Exalted Deeds and Book of Vile darkness), and - in my opinion - they're better in a lot of ways. They're shorter, and the art isn't as good as WotC's. And there's definitely stuff in WotC's books I like; but these are very, very good supplements.
Earlier I mentioned FFG's Traps and Treachery. It's part of a series called Legend and Lore. T&T is my favorite from that series, but the other books in it are also very high quality.
Finally, I'll give a general shout to Goodman Games. I've used several of their adventures, and I've never been disappointed.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'll be sure to check them out next chance I get! Keep 'em coming! _________________ John Ling

| I'd heartily recommend the four-volume Warlords of the Accordlands set, by AEG. It's a complete game world based on their CCG. I'm also flipping through Dawnforge and Spycraft on a regular basis. |

Masterwork Maps: Temples & Shrines (Darkfuries Publishing)
Dweomercraft: Familiars (Dark Quest Games)
Of course I am also a huge fan of Cities of Brass (Necromancer), Ptolus and the Book of Eldritch Might.

I'll try to pull the description for you tonight... but basically it was an alternate system for gaining a familiar in 3.5 - as well as some, frankly better, rules for improved familiars.
