Thought I'd make a thread where you can talk about some old Open Design projects, PDFs, or whatever that you think we might be able to have some new ideas for, or expand upon in creative ways. Or just gush on and on about an old Open Design you loved.
Personally, I loved Sunken Empires, and I think a lot could be done even further with the ocean floor as one gigantic "dungeon". Tons of other phenomena at the bottom of the ocean, WILD kinds of creatures, I think even if we left the Aboleth cities alone we could have all kinds of crazy stuff happen down there. I'd love to see a campaign or adventure path where for a large part the players are down at the crushing black of the Underdeep, completely cut off from the surface, and with alien-looking landscapes and creatures of nightmare swimming just beyond the visible range of the light you brought.
I know a LOT of content was included in the original stuff that was published, and even some extra stuff, but I still just would love to see more of the ocean floor, lost vril tech, the Aboleths, and all of it not only can work well together but on its own without the others as well. Yeah, I know I gush, but I would love to see some campaign that went from fighting on the beaches to the continental shelf then down the cliff into the Underdeep, where alien things wait dreaming.
Heck, Sunken Empires was what hooked me to Kobold Quarterly, as I just love water in general and that was a very well done book for constructing underwater campaigns, with almost everything the DM would need (aside from listing the actual underwater combat rules which are already in the DM guide from Paizo).
What about you guys? Any open design stuff you loved most of all, or just REALLY want to see more of? Perhaps ideas on how to expand on past ones? |

Sounds like all your leftover ideas from SE would make a great adventure pitch for Midgard Tales - are you a patron on the current project? _________________ Adam W. Roy

No, I am at a time when I should not be spending money so freely, sadly. >_>
(Also, I'm not exactly experienced with the crafting of an adventure other than random suggestions of things that aren't really tied to the plot in any way, and tend to get easily distracted, so might not be the most useful method of giving KQ my money.) |

How do you get to Midgard Tales and a published adventure? Pitching, Pitching, Pitching.... seriously, for thirty bucks you can see what other pitches get picked and submit "practice" pitches and get personal feedback from Giants of the Industry like Wolfgang, Ben and Christina. Cheaper than taking a class at the Learning Annex and how many of us (Brandon Hodge, James Thomas, Adam Daigle and me, to name a few) got our paying gigs, if that is a direction you are thinking of going.... _________________ Adam W. Well, I would have absolutely no idea what I'd need to do even if an adventure pitch got accepted and I got put in charge. I can barely keep track when I'm following along someone else's adventure pitch, and I have no idea if my schedule would even allow it (and I do not want to get wrapped up in something and then be unable to meet the deadline) since now and then I get sudden surprises.

I think some new items of Vril tech would make a great Kobold article. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

| I love the idea of the Wasted West and the Walkers there. I'd love to work on a project that fleshes those ideas out further. Maybe an adventure that takes place in a settlement built atop one of the Walkers backs. . . |

I'd like to say how much I love Empire of the Ghouls which was the first patron project I was involved in. I'm going to be converting it to 4e (with help from the Imperial Gazetteer and Midgard 4e Bestiary) shortly and incorporating it into the Parsantium campaign once my group is done with Courts of the Shadow Fey

Cerunnos!
I second that Sunken Empires! I love the setting and even wrote an adventure for it: Temple of Dagon! I'll be running that bad boy at PaizoCon this year. If you're planning on attending, let me know and we can game together! I think there's a lot more that can be done and your idea of an adventure path is not crazy... it's crazy cool!
I'd love to be a part of such an undertaking.
As far as other Midgard settings, Tales of The Old Margreve was both a writing project and a mini setting. We must do more some day!
I can see it now: Margreve Tales: Back To The Woods
And my master Mightymongo is right: check out Midgard Tales. It's worth the price of admission. And those of us on it now can only gain by your participation as well! _________________ Kobold Minion #66

I probably have a pretty long list of past loves in old projects, but to boil it down a bit...
1. The Arcane Collegium. Spinning up a solid magical academy which does not involve "warts" would be nice.
2. Six Arabian Nights and adventuring tourism-- I love the "drop in and see us sometime" feel you can get with a jaunt into someplace exotic. And I have ridiculous amounts of books on North Africa right now.
3. Halls of the Mountain King-- I'd love to see more of the cantons, when they're not full of insane derro.
4. The Wastes. Tales from the Glyph Staircase, that about says it all. _________________ progressio sine timore aut praejudica - Spectemur agendo |

This would be a series of adventures set in the Wastes, dealing with the Lost Tower and the aftermath of its destruction, and the immediate area.
It was a glimmer of an idea that came up during the Wastes section and remains a burr under the saddle of my mind. _________________ progressio sine timore aut praejudica - Spectemur agendo |
