I am interested in working on this project, but I was wonder how much progress has been made and how much is left. I've signed up for the tail end of patronages before and wanted to make sure there's things left to work on before I purchase.

There's a ton left. ^_^ The project is being done in stages; the Seven Cities are mostly complete and the Wasted West is probably wrapping up in the next couple of weeks (although still quite active), but there at least three other whole regions to go (Dragon Empire, Domains of the Princes, Steppes) as well as a host of other side projects going on. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone, but it really doesn't seem to be near the tail end.

I'm pretty sure this project will take at least a year to wrap, so there is a ton of stuff still on the table. If we have the hardcopy in hand by next GenCon I'll be happy. _________________ -Jesse Butler

I jumped in around mid-May. There was and is still plenty to contribute. From what I gather, the project will run at least a year and a half. It starting early this year. We're about a third through if that. As xellos said, there are at least three regions to go through with the project only completing one and finishing up a second so far.

I recently wrote a blog post about this same issue, concluding of course that there was plenty of design work left to do to keep new patrons engaged. It's written for the Dragon Age RPG audience, but it could be helpful still.

I jumped on the patronage exactly because the Dragon Empire was left to go.. Now all I need to work out is how I vote/whatever for a 4E version of it... |

There is lots left to do. Although much has been accomplished, I don't yet see the end anywhere in sight.

I just signed up today and this my first time trying anything like this, but I'm excited and can't wait to start getting my stuff, also this may be the wrong place to ask this, but I wanted to know how and when do we sign up for playtesting or can we? Thanks for letting me apart of this.

Thanks for signing up, you should see the welcome email later today.
And yes, you can playtest materials from the Bestiary and the regional things like spells and traits and the new PC races. You'll see some of those in the welcome and in the patron Forums for Midgard. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

So is the patronage for this still open? When is release expected? I'd like to know what I'm working with for the Midgard Tales project.

The Midgard project is designed and edited, but given that it is nearly a 300-page hardcover, not anywhere near ready to ship. Layout, maps, art, all proving to be more complex when the book is 5x as long.
It is available for patronage, though I would recommend the basic patronage rather than the higher tiers. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Question: With a basic patronage from the Kobold site do I still need to order a copy of the book?
