Happy Sunday!
I got a rate treat and went to an actual brick and mortar bookstore. I picked up the book Cloud Atlas, which is supposed to be good
Me and the wife logged some time in on Everquest tonight. It was nice, I just upgraded my weapons and I was blowing the mobs out of the water. We got some more of our Seeds of Destruction progression done, which was nice. Plus, I got a nice augment drop from one of the named mobs we killed.
I also got a great idea for an Alhoon NPC for my main Planescape PbP. Someone did an interesting writeup on the Piazza boards. I am going to have the NPC, Bloolp, working on creating an undead elder brain by linking a series of necromantically-preserved brains in a telepathic group. I'm thinking maybe having the undead elder brain be able to puppet several flesh golems or other weird flesh constructs.
Well, I hope some of you have Columbus Day off. Happy Thanksgiving to those living in Canada. I am going to download Midgard tomorrow when I have more time to enjoy it |

| Sunday's game went pretty good. Two of our PC's got taken to 0 hp, but managed to stay out of negatives. We finished off the fight and returned to town to restock before moving on. |

*sigh*
I do miss actually having a regular meatspace game. You Houston folks seem to have it going on. I hear LPM and Solnes are thinking of moving there in the Spring as well.
The squamous wasteland of this ancient decaying coastline region seem to have a dearth of live gamers. |

| I am playing in a Sunday game, and running a Wednesday evening game. I am trying to stir up some interest in a Friday evening game, but no luck so far. |

| Seems easy to get back to. Just have no kids at home, be retired, and either an understanding spouse or no spouse, and there you are. Instant freedom. |

Ah, well, I have one of three conditions. It'll be a while before I am able to retire in any fashion (although I might be becoming a full-time househusband if we move and I can't find a super-early job like I have). I will always have a kid in the house, and no babysitters without LPN qualifications =/.
Anyway, happy Tuesday! Time to do some housecleaning and the like. Mayhap get a nap in around noon, then try and write some stuff. Fall has definitely fallen. I have a feeling it'll be a cold snowy winter this year. Which reminds me, I need to price out cords of wood. My Jotul stove is a hungry beast.
By the way, I have read a bit of the Midgard stuff. Top notch! I am hoping for my hardback copy today, as my Nook is a real pain with PDFs. The pages keep bounding this way and that, and the size is strainy on my eyes, and I can't get it to resize properly. |

| Been reading through my PDF of the Midgard Campaign Setting. I like what I have seen so far. Evil Gnomes, HMMMMM. Would like to get my hard copy today but will have to wait and see. It is more likely to come around Thursday or Friday. |

I like the inclusion of Baba Yaga, one of my favorite mythical witches. That and she can cross-polinate to Golarion or even Greyhawk if I remember.
I also like World Tree of Domovogrod, which I would use as a 'proxy' if you will of Yggdrasil. Perhaps an ancient seedling?
My PbP just finished up a long story arc involving Yggdrasil, ratatosks, and healing a wound on the World Ash called the WarpWood that threatened to turn the World Ash into a nigtmare undead horror.
To heal such a dire wound (actually a rift to the Negative Energy Plane), they bargained with an ancient proxy of Hanali Celani, named Meralindiel, for a piece of primal chaos energy called the Chysagmir. The Chrysagmir had been a gift to Hanali Celani when she was but a young demigod aeons ago from an unnamed elder god. Its physical form was a gem of surpassing fire and beauty.
Meralindiel's price was a Seed from Yggdrasil. The party delivered the seed, called Lauralia, to Meralindiel's Prime Material city of Hanalindali and defeated the Winter Queen and her coterie of minions, the Morkarthau, who coveted the Chrysagmir for its primal energy. Lauralia was successfully planted, and in later ages could perhaps become as mighty as her mother Yggdrasil. |

So my Wednesday game got cancelled because of 2 players calling to say they couldn't make it. And it doesn't look good for the continuation of our Sunday game with all 6 players. This past week was not a good week for me.
OH BTW I have not received any packages I am expecting from either Kobold Press (Congrats on the new name, Wolfgang) nor Frog God Games. Perhaps today the maillady uses a forklift for delivering 2 large packages. |

Happy Saturday!
I did receive my hardback Midgard book (yay!)
Rappan Athuk remains MIA. Did they get those dice they were waiting on?
I know a lot of fans are pissed that their copies aren't in their hand before their FLGS has them on the rack. It doesn't bother me, it'll take a while to assimilate the info anyway. I'm still nose-deep in Midgard, so much so that I have totally neglected my PbPs. *sigh*
So, anyone interested in the upcoming PFO game? I was initially stoked, but I became less so when the development of a total PVP nature was clear. I have gotten over my initial distaste of this, and I am going to give it a shot. It supposedly is going to start from the beginning as a free-to-play model, so the price is right. |

| Yes, they got the dice in and started shipping Kickstarter orders out first. Be sure to check your box thoroughly. There should be a miniature frog mini in it. |

Doh. Sorry to hear about the group cancellations. That's always a downer. I hope it's just a temporary halt (my 2nd Edition AD&D game seems to have run its course after 2 years of play: ended with a whimper).
Depending on where you live, Silverhair, the Midgard package might still be in transit. The Midgard books went out in ways, review copies, international, patron copies, then preorders, then the later orders, etc.
If you preordered and don't see it Monday, do let me or Shelly know. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Wolfgang, I received one of the Patron emails regarding whether I wanted a hardcover or softcover. I ordered a hardcover. The mail has been delivered today and no packages. I will keep my fingers crossed for Monday. If I don't get it then I will send you an email. In fact, I will email you either way.
I am currently residing in Houston, Texas. |
