The Wizards site has a neat article on the process of re-creating the AD&D core books.

Two thoughts:

1.) It'll be a good reference when it's time for the Open Design 25th anniversary reprints!

2.) What I wouldn't give to get a look at those InDesign files!

What I would really like to see, is an updated 1st edition. One that includes the rules out of dragon magazine, such as the revised bard or cavalier. As well as including the other rule books that were released for first edition. Maybe even including some updated artwork. not modern artwork mind you but just cleaning up of the original so that it is easier to see.
