This 30-page PDF expands on the Dragon Empire region, with exotic spells, feats, and traits appropriate for any Near Eastern-themed fantasy setting from Al-Qadim to Qadira and beyond.

Magic carpets and more, for your delectation, o wise one!

In general, the south isn't really my style of setting preference. But, I just got this, and it is good. Could be useful to scaley PCs in the north, too.

But honestly, Mharoti rug makers all deserve to die. They are jerks.

I got this yesterday, and though not as all-out awesome as the Crossroads guide I still like it.

*I agree there are lots of options for dragonkin and drakes, which was welcome. I don't mind the "southern" feel as it spreads the range of the setting and adds a nice fantastic counterpoint to the grittier uber-Europa of the Crossroads/Septimes/Magdar.

*I would have like to see more new art - a couple of the dragonkin pics already featured in a recent KQ, and I was disappointed to see only a flavor writeup for the harem assassin. Is the original harem assassin in the old KQ a base class/archetype/PrC?

I liked the mechanics provided, the new archetypes and magic items, but mostly I wanted more... flavor. What is presented about Mharoti didn't really draw me much further from what was presented in the Campaign setting.

This bit seems excessive to me:

Quote:
Wind Palm (Su): At first level, the monk’s unarmed strike and
flurry of blows abilities gain a 15-ft. reach and act as ranged
touch attacks.

Yeah, I like the 15-ft reach as both flavor and tactically. It's not so far away that the monk is out of reach for foes, but it provides some new options.

The touch attack part seems excessive to me, though, especially now that Paizo has re-tuned the monk.

Might be errata on that.

Sorry, meant to leave more of a comment on that but got distracted. I agree that the 15' reach isn't a problem, but along with (or maybe in place of, really) changing the touch attack part I'd suggest limiting use. Maybe once per day per level of monk?

Yeah, I went back and forth on that one, but Sigfried didn't send me one of his appropriately scathing notes on it, so I left it that way. Replacing multiple attacks with one devastating touch attack with reach felt balanced at the time, but I see your point. Limiting uses would make sense. One use plus Wisdom modifier per day with the touch effect, regular ranged attack otherwise?

Great! Thanks, glad to hear it. From what I can tell, we've nearly broken even on both of the published guides, and if Wolfgang actually makes some money on the these, I will be able to bully him into ordering some more...So be sure to post/blog/review on Paizo/annoy your players about the wonders of Midgard & the Player's Guides in particular, so Wolfgang & Christina & I can write more of this yummy player goodness.... Laughing
