I don't think I need to say much more. I bought this about a week ago and have only had a brief look through it but it is everything I thought it would be and more. Very Happy

Yep I totally agree! Definitely a sleeper hit - doesn't nearly get as much exposure as it deserves - a fantastic book of player options including drakes-as-companions rules, an Alternate Class for the Summoner - the Drake Tamer; a bunch of Drakes and exceptional rules and advice on how to create your own drake (including an example Drake built using the easy to use system!)

Messrs Daigle and Welham show why they are where they are now (Adam works at Paizo, Mike won RPGSS 2012) with this release - two authors at the top of their game!!!

And equally as amazing is Hugo Solis sumptuous and mouth watering interior illustrations!!!

All in all fabulous... I might just go and post this as a review over at Paizo to lift the profile of this stellar book...Though maybe I'll wait until I get home and check on all the player options. This is really a broadly applicable book!!!

Good call twiggyleaf!!!

Thanks einherjar,

The book is all those things you mentioned and is therefore such a boon to any GM or player. For myself, running my first Midgard campaign next year and, trying to keep it less epic than my last 18th Level Divine Epic Quest, the drakes are a perfect new enemy that my low level players (starting at Level 1) can realistically expect to encounter, and that none of them will really know enough to Metagame. The player and companion options, the unique Midgard descriptions and the art throughout are so good that this is easily the best product I have seen since the MCS (and I am reeling them in at an average of 2 per month). You are right - this item should NOT be underestimated! Smile

Thank you so much, twiggyleaf!

It's been a while since the book was out, so I haven't heard too many reviews and reports since its launch, but it's great to hear that folks are liking it.

The Book of Drakes was certainly a project of passion for Mike and I. When we pitched it to Wolfgang we weren't certain he'd publish it. When we released it, I wasn't sure people would buy it. We felt it was a cool idea, but understood it was a niche, so it makes me very happy each and every time I hear someone picked it up, enjoyed it, and most importantly use it in their games. I really appreciate your kind words.

This goes for you too, einherjar! I appreciate your joy and enthusiasm for the Book of Drakes. I also fully support your idea to post a review (anywhere and everywhere)! Smile

Also, it goes without saying, Hugo did an awesome job on that book! I really wanted him to illustrate the entire thing so it would look super cohesive, and I think his illustrations MADE that book. Mike and I could have written complete garbage (or just drakem drakpsum) and some people would still buy the book. Wink

Thanks again! I just got home from a game that was super fun (my knife-wielding rogue kicked much ass!), but this thread made my night.

Yes, this is a wonderful book. Highly useful and imaginative. It's a must-have. I worship it. It speaks pf scaly things to me in the night. Smile
