Where are gearmages detailed in the various Kobold Press publications?

Are they more than wizards with access to clockwork spells? What of clerics with the clockwork domain?

BUMP!

Do we need a search party for the gearmages? 70 views but no replies? Wink

(okay, so maybe 4 or so of those are mine...)

Where doth a gearmage clock? And how?

Where is the term used? ^_^ Without context, I would assume a gearmage is the same as a clockwork mage. There are spells in the clockwork school mentioned in the Zobeck Gazetter, and there's the specialist wizard of the clockwork school in the Midgard Campaign Setting (which is probably what I would consider a gearmage). I've seen the term used in some of the patron projects, but I don't know exactly what was meant. Anyone else? ^_^

Hmm. Weird. A search of the forum would support this lack of terminology usage. One of the only appearances is from a post of mine!!! I'm pretty sure I used it after reading a post by EFSMick of Eastern Front Studios in which he talked of suggestions for a "gear mage" mini - someone must use the term!!!

So perhaps I'm looking for something that doesn't exist except in the vernacular. Still... let's hear it for the gearmages, whoever and whatever they are!

Thanks xellos!

I would say the term is a fine bit of slang for a clockwork mage, and derived from the iconic gear barrage spell.

And yes, Mick and the Eastern Front crew may have one in the works, it would not surprise me!

I expect a Gear/Clockwork Mage when we do a Magic of Midgard book. We don't have one as of yet as far as I know.

There's a fair bit of Clockwork magic in the Zobeck Gazetteer, but no, there is no gear mage archetype/school except for Dragon Age.

And there really should be.

Yeah, speaking of that, I saw the ad in the current issue of Kobold Quarterly but have not heard much other than that. Midgard minis is kind of big news!

Can we get more details on this? Are they metal or prepainted plastic?

Mick Leach of EFS has been discussing them on the Eastern Front Studios Facebook page in quite a lot of detail. Including pics of them in metal and resin.

I'm guessing that the larger ones are resin/plastic only. The smaller ones have metal or plastic options.

We are still waiting on an official line/pricing/schedule announcement from EFS, though. They are a slow-but-steady sort of company, so expect "when it's ready" dates.

Hi,

There's a Clockwork Mage theme for D&D 4e in the forthcoming Defenders of Midgard supplement that Kickstarter backers are receiving. In fact, that entry went out as a preview to those patrons.

I wrote it with reference to the Clockwork Adept PrC in KQ #16 and the clockwork magic school in the Zobeck Gazetteer – these are the main Pathfinder/3.5 sources. Some of the spells from the Gazetteer have also gone into the book.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Rich

Hmmm....sounds like an article submission request from Wolfgang if I ever heard one.....! ::wink, wink::

If Morgan doesn't want to take it on, I can work on it after I finish my current article....

I have no idea how, but I missed that Kickstarter in its entirety. I am very disappointed about that.

Go for it Adam. I'm working on enough other things at the moment, and gauntlet witches aside, casters aren't exactly my thing. Also, given your familiarity with the setting, I think you'd do a much better job integratig gearmages into canon.
Do shoot me an email though - I can link you to some stuff other folks have done on this theme...
