These sets consist of three thematically linked items that provide additional benefits when worn together. The themes presented here are based around the urban ranger and the ranger from the north archetypes, these items do not function for non-rangers.
Zobeck’s Bounty
Lore: Bardic Knowledge or Knowledge (local)
DC 20: Glorgret Ovnore, a dwarven inventor-mage expelled from her clan, crafted The Hunter’s Longcoat, Imelda’s Eye, and the Border Boots Zobeck’s Bounty, she created them for her one and only friend Imeldra the Chasseur, in order to help her capture the murderer of both their families.
Set Benefits: When wearing two pieces you radiate an aura of mystery and your features are often blurred or cloaked in shadow adding to your mystique. When you don all the pieces of Zobeck’s Bounty, Imelda’s eye glows an eerie green.
Two Pieces: a ranger gains the benefit of a constant blur effect (can be suppressed as a free action).
Three Pieces: Once per day a ranger can trap the soul of any helpless creature (no save). Imelda’s Eye serves as the gem for a creature of any hit dice, you cannot require a service from the creature and you can release the creature as a free action.
Hunter’s Longcoat
Price (item level): 4,450 gp (8th)
Body slot: Torso
Caster level: 9th
Aura: moderate conjuration (DC 19)
Activation: free action
Weight: ˝ lb.
This appears to be a black “duster” made from an unknown woven material. The inside lining appears to ripple.
Abilities: The strange material and splendid weaving that comprises the longcoat offers a noticeable protection against blades and arrows (DR 1/bludgeoning)
The inside of the longcoat is an extradimensional space the functions similar to a handy haversack for a ranger. Rangers gain free use of the quick draw feat when drawing weapons from within this extradimensional space.
.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Quick Draw (secret chest)
Cost to Create: 3,225 gp (98 xp)
Imelda’s Eye
Price (item level): 18,480 gp (14th)
Body slot: Face
Caster level: 11th
Aura: moderate divination (DC 21)
Activation: standard
Weight: ˝ lb.
Made from glass and brass, this false eye seems to have a number of mechanical lenses, gears, and clockworks inside.
Abilities: When a ranger willingly picks this item up she is compelled (no save) to place it over his or her left eye, it bores in destroying eye in the processes. The item does not function unless it is placed in a ranger’s eye socket.
Once per day for 11 rounds, you learn the nature of any bounty that can be collected on any creature within 110 feet you successfully spot. You learn who placed the terms and value of the bounty. This information is always specific. Spells and affects that protect against divinations also protect against this effect.
The eye also grants a +5 circumstance bonus to gather information, spot, and search.
.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, (legend lore)
Cost to Create: 9,240 gp (739 xp)
Border Boots

Abilities: Once per day when a foe flees from you, you may teleport halfway between your foe and his nearest point of escape (a doorway, the city gate, a state border etc.). This teleport is still subject to the potential for error, though a ranger using this item subtracts her class level from the percentile roll.
.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, (legend lore)
Cost to Create: 6,300 gp (504 xp)
The Vulkmar Vestments
Lore: Bardic Knowledge or Knowledge (history)
DC 20: The Vexing Tabard, the Iron Circlet of Stalemate, and the Advocate’s Armband form the magical item collection known as The Vulkmar Vestments; Vulkmar was an obscure ranger from the south who led an army to the aid of a famous hero versus the Empire of the Ghouls. The sheer force of his personality enchanted this legacy.
Set Benefits: When a ranger wears any two pieces, a single golden chain flows out attaching one piece to another. It is always the proper length to be taut yet never impedes the movement of the wearer. When you wear all three pieces of The Vulkmar Vestments, you glow with a soft silver aura (can be suppressed at will).
Two Pieces: The DC for all saves against these items increases by +2, and you gain a +1 insight bonus to all your aid another checks.
Three Pieces: Once per day as a free action you gain an enhancement bonus to Charisma equal to half your ranger class level. This lasts for a number of rounds equal to your ranger class level.
The Vexing Tabard
Price (item level): 2,240 gp (6th)
Body slot: Torso
Caster level: 4th
Aura: faint illusion (DC 17)
Activation: swift (triggered)
Weight: -
As you look at this plain white tabard, it shifts to a color matching your garb. It now bears the chosen symbol that represents you and your chosen companions.
Abilities: Once per day, if an opponent prepares to attack one of your allies and you are within range of the opponent’s current attack (sword, bow, spell etc.); you can use its special ability. It can create a glamour that makes you and your ally appear to exchange places. The Vexing Tabard makes you the focus of the opponent’s attacks unless the creature succeeds on a Spot check opposed by your Disguise check (+10 circumstance bonus). If either you or your ally leaves the range of the opponent’s current attack, the creature automatically disbelieves the illusion. The creature can also actively disbelieve the glamour (Will DC 10 +1/2 your ranger class level + your Charisma modifier) once he interacts with it.

Body slot: head
Caster level: 4th
Aura: faint enchantment (DC 17)
Activation: special (see below)
Weight: 1 lb.
This plain circlet of iron bears a singular sigil where it would rest upon your brow. A successful Knowledge arcana check (DC 17) reveals it represents the word ‘stalemate.’
Abilities: Once per day, as a full round action, a ranger can attempt to daze a living opponent with the highest Challenge Rating within 60’ using the sheer force of your personality. Your opponent must make a successful Will Save (DC 10+1/2 your ranger class level +your Charisma modifier) or be dazed for one round. You continue to repeat this each round until you choose to stop, are unable to continue, or the opponent makes a successful save. If an ally or a creature commanded, controlled, charmed, or compelled by an ally attacks the dazed opponent, the effect is ended. This is a mind-affecting compulsion effect.

Pretty neat... thanks!
I like the synergy concept, of multiple items combining for a greater effect. It is used to decent effect in MMOs..
If done right, in a true RPG, it offers tangible goals for PCs and PC Crafters. |
