I'm late and it seems decided, but I went with the Deinol Solution.
Sounds like an old John LeCarre spy thriller. |

I wish I had read the entire thread before voting. But it went the way I would have chose anyway. |

I belive in free pdf and print access for any level.
It cuts down on paperwork because you just give everyone access, its one mass email for the print on demand link.
I find the

a problem with the ENnies not updating thier format to the modern age where the majority of pdf companies are now using, Print on Demand, I dont' think it should be a consideration because Open Design.
Though I think you deserve one, for a number of reasons. It is very unlikly OD will ever win a Ennie Award, due to it not being a mass market product and its special edition nature. The ENnies are a popularity contest, the limited release of something as cool as Wrath of the River King makes it less popluar,
This will be even more so now that you are dealing with the broken fanbase issue of 4e vs. 3.x
Piracy? even the RIAA has not found a way to slow it down, much less stop it, so its a non worry IMHO. I am simply heartened by the fact that the vast majority of people are honest, also I am paying for the Open Design Experiance, if I wanted a quality wolfgang product I would buy something like Crucible of Chaos _________________ Steve "Quillion" Russell

The current situation is not well described.
It changed?
Wolfgang's link to plain
http://www.koboldquarterly.com/. on January the second is currently not helpful. Please point me to the article/announcement in detail. The linked page lack dates for the individual entries. I have the suspicion that he is refferung us to the KQstore instead, but i am not sure.
I am used to having pdf and print access to all projects i am a (basic)patron of.
I always exercise the printing option.
Setting up multiple prices for prints depending on patron level and making the correct versions available to the correct patrons is prone to misadministration.
Keep it Simple! In my opinion Deinol's proposal is not simple. |

Um, I thought the whole issue was that basic patrons DIDN'T have access to print options at all. Deinols suggestion fixes that, while keeping some cost benefits for super-patrons. |

Now i discovered that Halls of the Mountain King started out as basic patron pdf only. This WAS a change! Therefore the answer to my question is yes. But Wolfgang's pointer and addition put the basic membership again into good standing.
We will see whether different levels of patronage give different prices for the books. This is error prone and disrespects the 'basic' patron. The advantage is with adjusting patronage rates. It is not elegant to buy multiple patronages in order to have another level. I gather there will be an announcement about books anyways. |
