The patrons for Halls of the Mountain King have shown up in good numbers, with 40 patrons so far, split almost equally between 3rd and 4th. That's quite a shift from the first wave, which was running 2 to 1 in favor of OGL/3rd.
Then 4th Edition had a run of patrons, including some senior and major patrons and took the lead last night.
This morning, I see that 3rd Edition/OGL has a slight lead, but it's not exactly meaningful. One patron can shift it the other way. It much closer than I expected, honestly.
Overall, we're about 25% of the way to meeting the commission, and have already starting brainstorming ideas in the private patron discussion.. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Are you going by number of patrons per category or money per category?
(I'm hoping patrons.) |

Number of patrons doesn't get the mapper paid, alas. So money talks in the commissioning process.
It appears the 3E/OGL patrons are donating less per person, because there's 26 OGL patrons and 19 4th Edition patrons, yet the OGL lead is very small. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

True dat.
Will the 'losing' side get a chance to switch when it's comissioned?
So if they really want it regardless of edition they can still get on board? |

Yes, a number of patrons have already told me they are "edition neutral", so all of them are going to remain patrons no matter what happens with the commission results.
If you'd like to do the same, just let me know. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Ok, add me into the pot too.

The 3.5 crowd showed up in force (I think from some postings on the Paizo boards, but also patrons of the Zobeck projects). We're almost at the 50% mark for the commission.
The 4E patrons are keeping pace, but always a step or two behind. My expectations of a 4E blowout seem to be unfounded. That may change completely if the WotC boards or ENWorld folks decide to push for a 4e project. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

This is like Election Day all over again, except drawn out in slo-mo.
Someone needs to get on EnWorld and pimp this project for 4E. Someone who's got some reputation there. Let's go! |

Ben, you rock.
Not sure how the 4E audience will respond to the chance a major 4E design. Certainly the Wrath patrons seem pleased with that one, but this promises to be twice the size. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Oops!
I must have trailed around behind you and with my incredible powers of perception totally missed that you beat me to the punch. Oh well nothing like over saturation to make a point

Hopefully that'll do the trick.
Wolfgang: I'm pretty happy with Wrath of the River King, yessir.
I don't exactly have a regular group; mine's made up myself, a like-minded friend of mine, our respective kid sisters, plus one or two more friends. I don't know how you knew it, but Wrath of the River King is exactly the right blend of twisted magic, whimsy, and fighting for their tastes, and they need it after the long dungeon trudge that KotS turned into at the very end. I foresee a lot of laughter and enjoyment coming out of this one, and also a huge headache trying to top it after it's over. Perfect! |

I'm interested in going Senior Patron if it is 3e and Basic Patron if it goes 4e. (I just don't know enough about 4e to pitch)
What is the best way to accomplish this? My guess is to sign up as Senior Patron for 3e and then get a refund if it goes 4e....then buying Basic Membership.
Is that the best way, or is there some better way to accomplish this? |

doing what I can to keep it OGL.
Ironic though, you'd think with the OGL crowd not having to buy new WotC books, we'd have more disposable income. |

I did something similar for the last project, when Zobeck triumphed over the Fey adventure If 4E wins just ask Wolfgang and he'll make the necessary adjustments. I'm currently in as a Senior for 3e and would likely drop down to the minimum possible or even sit this one out (unlikely) if 4E is chosen. |
