I see there are a lot of locations listed. Is there a map of the known-world? I am only able to locate the map of Zobeck. _________________ Matt James

| I missed the first three Open Design projects, so the only maps I know of is the Zobeck map and the one of the Dwarven Cantons from Halls of the Mountain King. |

I'll take a look at them and check. At first recall, I'm fairly certain Steam and Brass doesn't have one. Shadowcrag might, but I think it's maps were all specific locations.
Empire is the best candidate, but its larger scale map is of the underdark regions and doesn't go into the surface locations, other than explain that the Empire is considering something sinister against Zobeck. Really, the best map thus far is in KQ11/Imperial Gazetteer-- showing the city in relation to the Cantons and Morgau/Doresh.
In a Howardian vein, if I were to create a map of the Zobeckian world, I'd put Zobeck roughly in location of Eastern Wallachia, along a larger river analogous to the Argent, with the Centaur plains to the East, Morgau and Doresh to the North, the Dwarven Cantons to the West, and Siwal to the South-- but without the difficult space of Turkey in the way, that'd probably just get cut right out and the Levant would begin about where Cappadocia is.
I think the lack of a greater Zobeckian world is by intent. In the tradition of many worldbuilding guides, it appears that we are slowly spiralling outward as needed, rather than trying to establish large swaths early on.

Let's not also forget the free map of Morgau & Doresh (which is as Terraleon suggests, north of Zobeck) in KQ11. The lands of M&D are detailed in the Imperial Gazetteer. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Hi,
I really like the Morgau and Doresh map in KQ 11 and the Ironcrags cantons maps. They don't quite join together though.
Could we have Jonathan Roberts do a nice colour map showing the bigger area, and maybe even showing where Siwal is? This would make a jolly nice inside back cover for KQ.....
Cheers

They do fit together, but there's a good chunk of overlap in Grisal. I redrew a couple of mountains so they may look a little different but they're to the same scale and they should line up.
I'm glad you like the map. Always happy to draw more Zobeck |

Indeed, I would need to know that. Fortunately, it's my home campaign for the past few years, so I have a pretty good idea....
It's been a lot of fun growing the world from the center outward. And yes, a patronage project beyond Zobeck and its neighbors would be great. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

Begging is not required, they'll be announced soon enough!
Right now, I'm sort of stewing with the two candidates, seeing whether I can whittle it down to one. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

What about a product like the original World of Greyhawk Gazetteer? A short (32 page) booklet about the world and then a big colour poster map!
Obviously not great as a PDF but I think this would be cool!

I see my ploy to make Wolfgang sick of seeing the filler text "ZOBECKLAND" everywhere in various submissions and patron projects is beginning to have results. _________________ Neal Hebert
