Sounds like many good ideas, no consensus? How about we vote on it soon? |

I plan to launch the next Open Design project just as soon as the 3E/OGL version of Halls is complete. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

| In case there is a running tally, I would support a Cthulhu project as the next OD. |

If there is a vote, I'd think the newer style of voting for OD would be a good way to go.
That is, picking all/as many of the choices you like, rather than just picking your one favorite. |

Yes, I agree that style has its advantages. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

So where is the forum poll filled with rampant speculation and pitches that won't actually be on the table for the next project? We need to build the hype now!

This is what happens when I get a day off. My pitches for the most ridiculous open design project:
Infinite Abyss: This project details 100 new layers of the Abyss. Each layer will come complete with color map, fully stated demon lord, and two new demons! With over 1000 pages, it is the largest Open Design Project to date. "We wanted a project bigger than Ptolus!"
Clockwork Rifts: Taking a break from D&D, we decide to tackle the home plane of Rava, the Gear Goddess, in this fantastic RIFTS dimension book. "How much MDC does a clockwork goddess have?"
Pie Paranoia: This re-telling of Monte Cook's classic Orc and Pie adventure takes place in the Alpha Complex using the Paranoia RPG. Eating the pie is treason. "You've never had more fun in one room before in any of your lives!"
HOL Almanac: A return to Dirt Merchant Game's classic RPG Human Occupied Landfill. It details the continent of lost gaming books and includes the quest for the thirteen sided die. "I only really like RPGs where you can die during character creation."
Kobold Toons: What if kobolds had their own saturday morning cartoon show? We explore the possibilities in Steve Jackson Games' Toon RPG. "Hey, muppet babies worked, so why not?" |

Alternity Revival Project: dig up alternityrpg.net and get one more good sourcebook out there. Give Star*Drive or Tangents one more book to stand on.
Golarion Adventures: What happened to the Azlanti Runelords? Well due to a terrible plot, adventurers are sent back in time hunting for an artifact. The hang up? Its the same artifact every Runelord fought and died to get their hands on. Can the adventure's beat out the runelords that wasted their entire continent?
Spelljamming anew: What happened to the spaceships? Well the adventures find out in a combination adventure path and sourcebook detailing space exploration and the magic that goes along with it. |

Of course! Best space RPG ever!
Kobold Station 7: On the outer edges of the empire a small kobold outpost is our last, best hope, for peace. "It's like Babylon 5, but with more kobolds!" |

Well, we could always come do a Wraethtu or SenZar patronage product.
My head is with SenZar, though my heart is with Wraethtu: I, for one, am most curious to see how Wolfgang handles the inevitable Wraethtu sidebar that gives players concrete tips on how to build up to graphically roleplaying PCs having sex with each other.

The Practical:
I'm fairly certain the next project is going to be D&D of some variety (and I'm crossing my fingers it goes the way of Paizo's Pathfinder and not 4e), so I'm hoping it stays Cthuhlu-like. I've been a huge fan of the Lost Lords since Wolfgang pitched it and I'll support that as a 3.0/OGL senior patron in a heartbeat.
In fact, I'd love to see a series of short adventures that tie into another, not necessarily in a linear fashion, but something more akin to a Cthuhlu-Myst mash-up. I'm thinking puzzles, horrible things from the Othernight, and your sanity slowly dripping away as you realize that your magic is feeding the beasts that will.... noo... nooooo... one day... NOooooo!
The Impractical:
I'd love to take Pathfinder's ruleset (is it OGL? I assume, since it's based off the original OGL) and adapt it for a more modern setting. We could design modern classes (the scholar, the investigator, the cultist, the government agent, ect), tie them to a faction of sorts, and write up a short, two level intro adventure. Of course, this wouldn't have to stay in the Cthuhlu-like realms ...and would possibly open other options for modern like games. I wouldn't make it magic heavy, but would instead rely heavily in the incantations rule-set.
Honestly, I think it would be a massive project. Fun, but massive.
So, yeah, that's what I'd love to see. |

Cannot... scrub... images... from... mind's... eye.
Damn you!
(If you haven't, go read the Wraeththu review on RPG.net!)
