Looks like the 4e Defenders of Midgard book is available at RPGnow/DrivethruRPG. Looking forward to checking it out.

If you don't have the 4E Essentials material does the school of clockwork magic include all the information needed to use it with the wizard from the PHB?

Hi,

If you're not using Essentials, you can still use the spells with the PHB wizard. There are five heroic tier spells for each of Clockwork and Glyph magic.

Cheers

I know that but does it have sufficient information to drop the implement and create a school of clockwork/glyph mage? Or does it require some information from the Essentials mage? Since I don't have the essentials material, I don't know if it is as drop the implement and add X feature from school or if there are bigger differences.

Edit: Silverseeker on the WotC forums directed me to the Class Compendium Feats which has feats a PHB wizard can take to get school features.

Sorry, I wasn't sure what you were asking. Each school in the book has the Apprentice, Expert and Master abilities (levels 1, 5 & 10) and five spells. The Mage class rules aren't included but as Silverseeker points out, your PHB Wizard can take the feats from the Class Compendium to take these abilities.

Hope this helps

Any chance the pdf will be sold in the kobold quarterly store? I have the balance from my kobold quarterly subscription sitting here. (I should probably get the 4E bestiary instead since I'm currently DMing a game not playing in one. There are plenty of other things I'd like as well such as Iron Gazetteer and Sunken Empires.)

Sorry, the Defenders PDF will not be sold in the Kobold Store. But yes, 4E Bestiary is here, and so are Sunken Empires and Iron Gazetteer.

Very fun. I'd say this is a must for a Midgard 4E campaign and definitely offers some good and engaging options for others with a willing GM.

I suggest the creation of a list of material that would be particularly useful for a Midgard 4E campaign at some point- in addition to the MCS and the Bestiary, some earlier books and specific articles from KQ and the KP blog (some of them referenced in this work). I'm glad to see this book, especially since there's not a lot of other 4E material coming out right now.

Cover and interior art is great, too.

Glad you liked it!

An index of 4e Midgard material is a great idea. I haven't got time to list all the KQ articles etc, but as a starting point, the list of Open Design/Kobold Press books is as follows:

Sourcebooks
Midgard Bestiary for 4th Edition
Defenders of Midgard
Imperial Gazetteer
Iron Gazetteer
Soldiers of Fortune

Adventures
Wrath of the River King
Halls of the Mountain King
Courts of the Shadow Fey
Lost City

Cheers

Hi,

We had a jolly nice review for Defenders of Midgard here, and also a nice review for the Midgard 4e Bestiary here.

Very chuffed 4e players like the stuff Brian and I have done.

Cheers
