| See, I'd love to play in a Golarion game or even try it out as a DM sometime. Iron Kingdoms too. Dragonstar? Check. Feng Shui? You bet. Couple more too. Too much good stuff, not enough time. |

Favorite setting? Is there more than one? Greyhawk is the only setting there is!
Well, it is as far as I'm concerned... |

I had to be talked into it, but Eberron.
Lots of good Noir and you can create some truly creepy encounters in the Mournelands (Living Ennervation anyone?) |

For the longest time it was Greyhawk, until FFG came around and made the Midnight campaign setting. It's a dark fantasy set in a world conquered by an evil god; what's not to love? As you can tell by the link in my sig, I'm a huge fan.
I never really got into Forgotten Realms, and I never opened a single book on Eberron. _________________ Michael J Thompson

Really, Ravenloft is a lot like Midnight, except that evil hasn't quite taken over.. Still, what with all the Darklords, it's getting there... _________________

| FR. Right now I'm running a homebrewed FR based campaign. |

My first love was Greyhawk, but Rokugan grabbed me with both hands and wouldn't let go. I'm still searching for a good modern / space setting. _________________ Ed Healy |

"Grew up" on Greyhawk so it is my first love. But I also love The North or Savage Frontier section of the Forgotten Realms - I have several campaigns in that region and really have no desire to go elsewhere.
Not a fan of Eberron, but am warming up to the Pathfinder setting. And I am also interesting in learning more of the steampunkishness of Zobeck.

Well as a long time DnD gamer/DM, my pre-wars Greyhawk setting is still my fav.
Alternate places that have been fun to play in over the years:
- Forgotten Realms
- Mystara (the old Basic setting)
- Midnight
- Planscape
A friend is just starting an Iron Kingdoms campaign this year. So it will be interesting to see how gunpowder and steam-tech change things.
PS: Games I've always wanted to try but never played:
- Shadowrun
- Middle Earth |

Yah I'm interested in more on Zobeck, too. |

Homebrew wins every time of course... but of the published D&D settings it would have to be Planescape for sheer oddness, awesome vistas, and managing to make D&D piecemeal outer planes into something that was still bizarre - but was bizarre for the inhabitants as well.
Ravenloft is a very close second, because if you're going to concentrate on the battle between light and darkness there's simply no better place to do it.
And Al Qadim - hands down the finest high fantasy swashbuckling D&D to be found. For this opinion I bless Ray Harryhousen and Errol Flynn with mighty prayers
...so basically it varies depending on my mood. The mass market 'kitchen sink' worlds (like Greyhawk and FR) generally lose out to me because if I wanted to do that, I'd use my own work. That's not to say that DMs can't run superb campaigns in them though; showing off the wonders of the setting is what the DM's job is all about. _________________ Recent Projects:

Forgotten Realms have been my first love for nearly 20 years, although my love seems to have run out on me and gotten Joan Rivers level plastic surgery, so I'm pretty devastated.
Dragonlance has always been a close second for me, but its not the setting that always trips my creative trigger. I'm more likely to get an idea for a campaign to run after having run several FR campaigns in a row.
Ravenloft was great, and I had a soft spot for Spelljammer, but those two, along with Planescape, were great in that you didn't really have to abandon your first love in order to use them for a while.
While I've never been a big fan of Greyhawk as a DM, I've had a ton of fun there as a player.
So I guess as life stands at this moment:
1. Pre 4e Forgotten Realms
2. Golarion, threatening number one on and off
3. Ravenloft
4. Spelljammer
5. Planescape
All of that having been said, I loved Dark Sun as well, but I never really got the chance to run any games there nor play in the setting. |
