I'm a huge Pathfinder fan, that said, one of my gaming groups plans to start a 4E campaign soon and I look forward to it, maybe the game will be great. I play serveral different systems anyway, but 3.5 has been my favorite since its horrible release.

Since Pathfinder is actually listening to us regular posters on their boards my faith is growing they will produce the game I want. Which is just 3.75, although most folks from many different camps hate it when I say that.

P.S. I will actually NEVER buy any 4E products, moslty because of the damage they did to 3.5 with those last few splat books Complete Scoundrile, Complete Mage, Dungeonscape, etc. They have lost my support over that.

I still need to read more 4E and, more importantly, play more to really get a feel for it. But I suspect that I will end up playing 4E and GMing some sort of house ruled 3.5/Pathfinder hybrid.

Nope don't like 4e. My group read through the books and we decided to go with Pathfinder RPG/3.5

For me, storrytelling is what I do as a DM and player and has little if anything to do wtih the combat rules in a game. The rules can inspire story or aid in it, but they arn't there to create or adjudicate it.

I like my books to have some flavor, but I'd rather it be in pictures or implied information that have it clutter up a set of nice consise and easy to reference rules. For me a book like the 3.5 rules compendium is a golden treasure because its all rules all the time with amusing illustrations.

But I've always been fond of universal rules systems with a setting added on top of them rather than the "these rules were designed just for this setting" kinds of systems. (usualy because the rules for those systems are kind of broken and end up distracting from emersive play rather than adding to it) But also because I don't want to learn and teach an new system every time I want to tell a different story.

I've played D&D because its fairly easy, everyone knows how to play it, and it has lots of material for it if I feel lazy. I almost alwys make up my own setting for D&D games and campaigns and I like it when the rules don't tie your hands in that reguard.

From what I have read so far, I am not impressed with the new rules. They aren't bad, but i don't see anything that inspires me to change rules systems as i did with 3rd edition.

Since I'm the DM in my group, they usually rely on my reviews. So it is unlikely we will swtich to 4th. I intend to but the Pathfinder books in place of any Wizards books to satisfy my need for new material.

I'm still not sold on Pathfinder. Somethings I like some I am not so fond of, but if the choice is PF or 4E I'm going PF as it still works fine with 3E if that is the way you want to go.

Planning on playing 4e?

Yes, bought the box set I'll damn well play it dammit! Besides, it's kinda fun, in a junk food kind of way.

Planning on switching?

Nope, I signed over my wallet to Pathfinder and Paizo, wizards have been hit and miss with products and customer service and satisfaction since they canceled the Dungeon and Dragon contract. I think this was the best thing to happen to paizo gaming wise.
Paizo on the other hand has done nothing but satisfy my desires and needs as a gamer, that and I really like where they're going with the PRPG. If not for them, I might have made the switch... might have... maybe... not sure...

Either way, there are elements of 4th I like. Not enough to switch over completely but I think it will make for great filler games the give me a break in between Adventure Path modules.

gotta agree with you on that one. Anything I've gotten from Paizo I've been happy with. You can't beat quality writing which is one of the reasons I tuned into KQ. Sure it is black and white when it happens to have art but the writing is top quality.

sorry that was kind of off topic.

Yes, I am making the switch. Prior to the beginning of this month I was not so sure. However, now that I have had time to look over 4e and DM one game and play in another, I'm sold on it!

I tried it. I had fun but it was not really D&D. It just felt too differant for me. I honestly think Pathfinder will end up being closer to what I feel is D&D.

Hello all,
I am new here. I am not done with 3.5 yet. In fact I came to this site because it seems that WOTC is for 4.0 fans. I went to Paizo, and most of the discussion there is pathfinder.

I was told this is a good site for 3.5, and I hope that is true. Not to say that I have anything against 4.0 or pathfinder (to each his own), I just would rather talk about the game that I am playing.

Cheers

Welcome to the KQ boards!!

Most talk around here is anything from 3.5 to pathfinder to 4.0, really anything that is in the KQ mag. I'm still playing 3.5 so if ya got anything you want to talk about post a thread friend. Smile

Thanks for the welcome. I have just started to poke around, but I must say that so far I like the place a lot.

I also see at least one other poster here already that I game with, so that makes me feel more at home.
