Five ENnie Nominations for Open Design

by Kobold Staff

We’re very happy to report that Open Design has been nominated for five ENnie Awards this year, including:

Best Writing (Kobold Quarterly)
Best Aid or Accessory (Kobold Quarterly)
Best Electronic Book (Blood of the Gorgon)
Best Electronic Book (Tales of Zobeck)
Best Web Site (Kobold Quarterly)

As always, the competition looks fierce, but that’s all to the good: great games for everyone. Our congratulations to all the nominees and everyone who contributed to these projects, and our thanks to the judges for their hard work.

We look forward to the voting.

  1. Darkjoy says:

How does the voting take place?

  2. Daigle says:

    Go Kobolds, go!!!

  3. Ben says:

I think all the voting, except for fan’s award for best publisher, is done by the judges. But Fan’s Best Publisher is done after July 19th.

    -Ben.

  4. Richard Pett says:

    Hoorah for the kobold!

  5. steve says:

The fans get to vote on all nominees starting on July 24 to August 1st.

  6. Wolfgang says:

Steve’s got it right. The judges decide on what gets the nomination. The fans decide what wins, starting Friday the 24th.

  7. Josh Stevens says:

    Hoorah!

2 in the Electronic Book Category!

    Congrats kobolds!

  8. Wolfgang says:

Delighted as I am that there are two nods in that category, the designer in me notes that this splits the vote and thus does not maximize the change of winning the category. :)

  9. Neal Hebert says:

Yeah, I’m with Wolfgang. That’s not an optimal way to be nominated, though nice.

The business man in me notes that having a patron project nominated for an ENNie costs us a lot of potential sales. And then there’s all the patrons who helped design this thing who aren’t getting as much exposure for their work as they could be since curious fans can’t buy the project in the Kobold Store to see what the hype’s about.

  10. Phillip Larwood says:

Wait, do kobolds ever win awards?

  11. Daigle says:

    Well, yeah. Duh!

  12. Butterfrog says:

WOW! Cheers for the mighty kobold and minions!

  13. Jeramy Ware says:

@Wolfgang: Actually the voting system we use negates the worry about a split vote somewhat. If a voter chooses Blood of the Gorgon as their first choice, and Tales of Zobek as their second, for example, and their first choice doesn’t have sufficient votes, the votes cast for Gorgon automatically transfer to Zobek.
