Ok, I agree that I shouldn’t have used elliptical; I was going for figure-eight shaped (like the pic), but used the wrong wording. But vertical eyes moving left to right? That would be horizontal. We can say vertically placed. No problem. I’ll get those changes made to the text.

On the latter, people are more likely to encounter the nethysule in their natural state than the morphoi…thus I included that bit of confusion.

The above art shows it in its natural state?
The description does not match up with it.

The head is not eliptical but consists of two spheres.
The eyes are not vertical but vertically placed. With vertical eyes i expect blinking from left and right.

I expect the harmless nethysule to be more often mistaken for Morphoi than the other way around. Many insect use black and yellow stripes for that purpose. Agressive creatures imitate something else than another creature, e.g. stick insect.

Jim, it does sound like a temporal effect, so it would be immune. I’ve got that book on pdf, but I haven’t read through it yet. I need to ask for a hardcover for Christmas. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, Jim!

Question Christina- I like the immunity to temporal effects. Ultimate Magic introduced spells like sands of time, which age the target. Would those apply? If you so, you might swap one of your two examples for that, so the reader has different types of time-related spells to consider.

I’ll be curious to see where they fit in the larger Isle of Morphoi ecology.

Doing these as CR 1/2 was also devious and difficult. Can’t wait to see a morphoi leader or advanced version.
