Loving the art direction. I think the trend of going with heavier graphic black and white illustrations in the interior of the magazine is really beginning to evoke a "Kobold Quarterly" style.

Two Examples:

Ben Hodson's richly detailed and beautifully inked illustrations are so much fun. I like the image of the "Shadowfur Hunter". It really triggers the mood and feel of the character but doesn't lock it down to the point where I can't imagine the character outside of the illustration.

The use of quirky odd, and sometimes nearly surreal, images of Olaus Magnus cause my neurons to fire. The combination of the Olaus print and the title "Wishing Well" by Garrett Baumgartner sucked me right in.

Keep up the good work!

It's a great article; the query seemed impossible, but I was extremely impressed with the way he broke it down into 4E crunch.

And I think it might be a first-time author, so there ya go.
