Wolfgang,
Like many of us I never had the pleasure of meeting Dave Arneson. Nevertheless, his passing saddens me. So many of us cut our teeth on his work and continue to enjoy all that he helped to create. Beyond this, on a very personal level, Arneson's death hits close to home. My dear wife was recently diagnosed with cancer (We just had our 6th chemo treatment today--I wish I could say we were near the end of that treatment but we are just starting a long road). As a result, the family time we spend together with our children around the gaming table is even more precious now. I don't know, but I'm sure my story is not unique. I only hope Dave had some idea of the joy he provided and the lives he indirectly touched through his work before he passed.
