		<description><![CDATA[I have used skill challenges as a lead in to combat and I recommend it. It&#039;s a good example of a failure mode that doesn&#039;t bring the game to a halt.

The only advice I have is to make the challenges simple and abstract. Use them as vessels for narration and improvisation. Specific milestones in a challenge are often easily circumvented, requiring improvisation from the DM anyway.
