Patrick F. McManus is a hero of mine and a definite influence on these. Outdoors stuff is often just a lot funnier to write about than inside stuff. Anyway, if you’re sensing shades of PFM in this, then I’m doing something right!

@DMCal – I just might be as old as you, but for sure old enough to remember those stories… Same series, Pat started it in Field and Stream (12 yrs) and then went to Outdoor Life (28 yrs). It used to crack me up, and so did this!

Friend of mine had a similar experience while guarding the border during his military service. xD
