Thanks! I'm really excited about the format...I've got my own group of friends itching to play long-distance and scattered across time zones, so I think this is going to be a great project.

Plus, I'm a sucker for maps. Very Happy

-Ben.

We're 8% to goal.

Here's a taster of what to expect inside the adventure. This is a screenshot from within maptool:

Now this is a nice simple fight between the characters and a troll on board their ship. But notice that the characters (drawn by James Hazelett who many of you will know as DevinKnight) can be moved and rotated freely, as indeed can the ship. Now isn't that a step forward from markers and a battlemat?

More of these to follow!

Not sure how we're supposed to notice that from a screen shot. Wink

Okay, so it could be the case that Devin just drew them in the perfect formation for this fight, but I think those odds are slim Wink

A couple of Q&As are up on the Rite Publishing site about this project:

Q&A part 1

Q&A part 2

Now with added screenshots!

Now here's a larger (and slightly different) version of the screenshot in that Q&A. You can click the image for a larger view:

I think the players need a bigger boat...

Ships, icebergs and (movable) ballistae by me, background is maptool default ocean and the tokens are by the ever talented Devin Night.

... and a little more. This time showing off what maptool can do with light, shade and vision.

Confess, you're building a version of the online RPG game table that WotC once talked about. It looks amazing!

Smile We're not building it. It's already here! Maptool's been around for years and around the time the Gametable was announced there were some of the Wizards people on the rptools boards looking around. We're just building a commercial adventure for it.

A lot of the fancy stuff has come in over the past year or so and will be in the stable 1.3 build that's due out any day now.

And just because I was playing with it, here's what the common room of the Sand Dragon Inn looks like in maptool with lights:

A bit of a break from the snow and ice of Forstor Nagar!

Another screenshot, this time showing what happens if a PC is blind:

In this shot you can see that Valeros can only see himself. This is the GM view - so the GM can still see the enemies. However the white line designates the limit of what the player will see.

States are easily tracked in maptool. You can see the clear label showing that Valeros is blind. There are equivalent images that cover all the other states.

Now you'll also see that there's a rather nifty little portrait and stat sheet on the bottom left. This contains all the vital information about Valeros, as well as his portrait. This allows the players or the GM to quickly see important information about a PC, so no more asking the player what his perception skill is before checking if he sees a hidden creature. I'll be showing off a little more of what you can do with this later. The stats here are for Valeros, the iconic fighter from Pathfinder.

Portrait art by Tyler Bartley - our interior artist for this project. Tokens by Devin Night. States by AidyBaby from the RPTools boards. Map and torch by me.

As always, more information on the Rite Publishing web page: The Breaking of Forstor Nagar.

If he's blind, how can he see himself? Question
