| Maybe. I love planar adventures, but I'm not sold on a Pathfinder-specific project. |

| No. Open Design should concentrate on humbler fare with a wider audience. |

That sounds pretty much spot on in my book. _________________ Level 1 Freelancer.

Well, when I started this thread, my thought was using OD to explore the Great Beyond. Just as OD explored the ruins of an Azlant city with S2S. I'll admit, as a Golarion fanboi I would prefer to see something based on the Great Beyond... but I wouldn't say no to a Zobeck/Midgard take on the planar realms. Although, I would think it would be more accessable to a wider audience if it was tied to the Great Beyond. |

Yes, but S2S didn't start as a "Let's explore the ruins of an Azlant City." It started as a detailed pitch that Wolfgang could take to Paizo outlining what the adventure was going to be about, areas covered, etc. Paizo isn't going to allow an anthology type project; it'd be difficult enough to approve a single module.
So unless someone has a fantastic adventure idea that we can pitch to Paizo, I think a standard OD project exploring the planes of Zobeck is far more likely. _________________ -Jesse Butler

Good point deinol. I can't argue with that. I do wish there was a fantastic adventure idea out there that would convince Paizo to greenlight it ... <<.<< >>.>> ... Watcher?? |

I have said before that I think "Heaven" is under utilised as a campaign locale and I'd LOVE to see more about the home of Rava the Gear Goddess. A detailed look at the Heavens and Hells of Zobeck with mini adventures in each or crossing through each would be great!
Watcher, this is what you get for good inspiring ideas, more work. |

*blush* I'm really happy that folks seem to have liked what I did in The Great Beyond to want to see something similar to or riffing on it with OD. That's really really cool.
I'd love to explore the planes more (either Golarion's or anywhere else), but for anyone mentioning my name and summoning me forth in a torrent of screaming souls from Gehenna, I've never actually done a published adventure product. Sourcebooks yes, but never an adventure. I'd be open to such, or collaborating with someone who had more experience with the pacing and maybe the numbers too. Closest I've come is a oneshot adventure I've tested on my home group set in the Maelstrom-wandering city of Galisemni.
And to Jim, I voted for you and your pitch for RPG Superstar, but I suspect it got kiboshed by being too ambitious for the format perhaps. But very fine idea, and some fun adventure backdrop locales therein.
The more people interested in crazy planar stuff the better, and I always enjoy seeing other folks' use and work on them, regardless of cosmology.

@Todd - It is entirely possible for you to be the lead on an anthology project and have you not actually write any adventures. Usually the leads still have to pitch adventure ideas with the rest of the senior patrons. Of course, with your great ideas I'm sure you'd manage to get a pitch through. Either way you could help develop some cool planes for Zobeck.
I'm a planescape junkie, so I'd be in for any sort of planar project. _________________ -Jesse Butler

| I hope this can wait for a couple months. I want in, but I barely have time for the current two projects I joined.... |

So how does one go about initiating a new project? Is there a limit to the # that OD should attempt at one time? We wouldn't want to slow the development of the other projects by spreading the community too thin.
Every adventure I've ever done has been purely seat-of-the-pants style, and I've certainly never written them down. I'm not certain how I would, but I AM reading the Kobold guides to game design books, so maybe I'll find out soon. _________________ Roachling avatar pic drawn by Alexandra Douglass.

I usually put out a call to the senior patrons a couple times a year, and that leads to a poll on what projects they'd want to see next.
So, I'd say pitch this in one of those. It would require a length, type, project summary, lead designer, and so forth. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

So, lets get started preping for a project pitch.
How long do we want it?
What type of book?
Heaven? Heaven/Hell? Planes? Deity Domains? Something else?

Easy: 100 page adventure/sourcebook anthology. Variety of planes (and adventures to go in them) to be pitched by patrons/guest writers. Project Leads: Todd Stewart (sourcebook section) and Jim Groves (adventure section) tagteam. Go! _________________ -Jesse Butler

Agreed, no reason it couldn't be you, Christina!
Chances are that this project will go to the patron/designer who puts together the best outline for it and submits it this fall.
Given the number of Open Design projects currently ongoing (including some not yet announced), there's no way that this project will start commissioning before October or November.
That said, I'd love to have some outlines for it to consider from likely lead designers by the end of September. _________________ Wolfgang Baur

When exactly in fall? I'm interested in submitting an outline for it, but I'll be lucky to survive September as it is. |
